Playdate and Eating

On Saturday we had a playdate with our friend Mitchell and his mom Nicole. It is always great to see them. Mitchell is still learning to sit up. He probably can't do it because he doesn't have a belly to support him. He is 27 inches long (half an inch longer than Reese) and 15 lbs (three lbs lighter than Reese). Here are a couple of pictures from our playdate...

He looks like he is saying "Get this girl away from me!"

Here is Reese after finishing a whole jar of Oatmeal with Applesauce and Bananas in it. This was the first time she tried it and she obviously really liked it...

Da-Da

Reese has started to say Da-Da. She is still working on it. Usually it is just a whisper and is just the D sound. I catch her practicing in her crib in the mornings. In this video you can see her moving her mouth to say it and you can hear her make the D sound a couple of times.

Whirlwind Weekend

We had a very busy and fun weekend. Lance's friend from college, Justin, came in town to visit us. He got here Friday night and left Monday afternoon. Friday night we stayed in and ordered pizza. Saturday it snowed, I went to a baby shower, and Justin and his friend Erica went out and bought an XBox 360 and a Wii. Saturday night was spent breaking in the Wii. I think we were up past midnight and sadly I was sore the next day from playing tennis and bowling on the Wii. Sunday Justin went downtown to show Erica the city and we enjoyed some time at home with Reese. I think she enjoyed the time alone because she had been fussy most of the weekend from her shot on Friday. Sunday she seemed back to normal. While Justin was gone, Lance and I spent more time on the XBox and the Wii. We had a blast and can't wait to get our own Wii!! Monday was spent much of the same way...stuck in front of the TV playing video games and just hanging out. We had a great weekend! Here are some highlights...

Tony and Justin playing baseball on the Wii
Getting ready to go outside in my first snow

Six Month Check-up

Today Reese had her six month check-up. Her growing has slowed down quite a bit...which is good because she would have been as tall as me by the time she was a year old if she kept growing at the rate she was. She has grown a quarter of an inch and gained one pound, five ounces since her four month check-up. Today she weighed 18 pound, 6 ounces and was 26 1/2 inches long. Now she is only in the 90th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height. She also got another shot today! Those are no fun but she quickly forgives the nurse and will smile at her after a minute or so. The nurses love her because she is happy and easily smiles. I am really happy with our doctors office. I don't think we could have found a better one! I guess we need to stay in this area after we sell our house so I can continue to take to see them.

Reese is also feeling better now. She has a yucky cough and runny nose still but she is much happier. Yeah!!

Meredith Emerson

I have wanted to write a blog about the hiker that was killed in North Georgia for a few days now. However, I haven't figured out the words to use that would convey my feelings and thoughts about this horrible tragedy. As I was surfing blogs I came across one through a friend of a friend that had a blog about Meredith Emerson. I truly feel that she says exactly what I have been thinking and feeling. (Excuse the bad word towards the end) I don't think that it is fair that I have to be scared to go out and enjoy this wonderful space that God has given me.

There is a sound bite on AJC of the 911 call placed by the person who found this evil killer. This caller is a hero because he saved the lives of more women that would have been at the hands of an evil man!

First Sick Visit

Today I took Reese to the doctor for her first sick visit. She has been coming down with a cold (probably caught it from Lance) all weekend. Yesterday was a tough day for her. She kept having coughing fits and just looked miserable. So today I decided to take her to the doctor. She said everything sounded good and to let them know if it gets worse. She said that I could give her Benedryl at night if she was having a hard time sleeping. So far it has not helped her stay asleep but we will see...she keeps waking herself up coughing. Hopefully our sweet baby can get some rest tonight and fight off this mean cold!

Neti Pot

You can read Lance's blog to find out the back story to the Neti Pot. One side note...the reason I went first is because Lance is a wimp...he didn't mention that on his blog. My video is a quick one. I have to say that my nose honestly feels much clearer than before. Crazy!

Here is a still shot of Lance at work...notice the water dripping out of his nose.

If you type Neti Pot in to YouTube, you can find a bunch of entertaining videos!!

Book Reviews

I recently finished reading two books. The first one I read was James Patterson's "You've Been Warned" and the second one was Cecilia Ahern's "P.S. I Love You". These books were obviously very different but yet both still enjoyable.

I am a huge fan of James Patterson. However, this book was completely different from any other book of his that I have read. I am not a big fan of things that scare me and this book definitely did!! I had to put it down several times. Most of his books are murder mystery so I am used to that part of his writing. I think this book scared me so much more because usually the narrator is involved in solving the murders but this book she was a part of the murders. I won't give too much away about it but my opinion on this book is I have read better books by James Patterson.

"P.S. I Love You" was recommended by my cousin Lissa as a good read. I had to take this with a grain of salt because she also recommended "My Sister's Keeper" and I hated that book. Just kidding Lissa! I trust your judgement...that book was just too sad for me! Anyways, back to "P.S. I Love You". This was an amazing book!! It is about a women (30 years old) who looses her husband to a brain tumor. Through out the book she is coping with his death and learning how to go on with her life without her husband. It is a book that reminds you to be thankful and to live each day like it is your last. The most suprising thing to me was that the author wrote this book when she was 21 years old. It was very well written and easy to get in to. I would catch myself through out the day being excited about being able to open the book back up and read more. I imagine if I didn't have Reese I would have finished that book in a day!! The movie is out now starring Jennifer Gardner but I think I will wait until it is on DVD. I can't imagine it is as good as the book.

Get in shape!!

I can't believe I am about to put these pictures on here but it is my way of making myself get back in to shape. Every day (M-F) for two and a half years I worked out. Even up until two weeks before Reese was born. However, I have not worked out but maybe two days since she was born. I feel like a huge slob and I really need to get my butt working. Lance and I have contemplated buying a treadmill or rejoining a gym. I honestly think a treadmill would be easier but working out is not suppose to be easy and it is definitely not more cost effective. Hopefully I can find us a gym that is reasonably priced and we can get moving again.
Here I am a year before I got pregnant. We had just finished doing Body for Life and we had busted our butts!!
Here I am at 39 weeks pregnant.
Haha...you thought I was going to have a picture of me now...no chance. But you can only imagine what my belly looks like after having Reese. So I need to get on it and get back in shape!!

MOMS

I had my first MOMS adventure today. I found this group online because I was looking for other moms in my area to spend time with. Well, it wasn't exactly as I had hoped. The moms were nice and the kids seemed to be having fun in the play area at Chick-fil-a. But it just didn't feel right. I am really looking for other moms my age. These moms seemed to be in their mid-30s and the youngest kid there was 2. Granted two of the moms are expecting but still...they are all older. Also, one of the moms came sick and her kid was sick and hacking like a seal. Seriously, keep you kid at home if they are sick. I think I will give another outing with them a chance to see how I feel about it. It is a club so there is a membership...which is $25 a year I think. I want to be sure these are people I want to spend time with before I spend the money. I don't know what I am going to do!

On another note, I know I am a mom now and I will experience some of the nastiest things ever with kids but I hate boogers and runny noses! All of the kids at Chick-fil-a today seemed to have both! Yuck!! My kids noses are probably going to be so dry and irritated because I am going to constantly be cleaning them!

Vegetables

Here is the video from Reese eating vegetables for the first time. She had green beans here...and they were disgusting!!

My sweet potatoes video would not load so I will try that one later!
