Sweet Papa and his buddy, Hayes

The day of Reese’s grandparents day at school, Papa and Peggy came over to our house a little early to visit and then so I could show them where to go. At first Hayes wasn’t too sure he wanted to visit with them. He stayed away and was being shy with them. But then all of a sudden he walked up to Papa and started playing. I think it was shortly after Papa “stole his sugar”. He would climb in his lap, giggle at him, play with him and at one point even laid his head down on his shoulder to give him a hug. It was the sweetest thing!

School Thanksgiving

Yesterday Reese had a Grandparents Thanksgiving Feast at her school. She was so excited. Lance’s mom was able to go and my grandparents (her great-grandparents) were able to make it. Unfortunately my parents had work commitments that kept them from being able to have lunch with Reese. She only made them feel a little bad. The room mom from Reese’s class sent a picture to me after the lunch.

Today Sam’s class had a Thanksgiving party. They each dressed like little Indians and had Indian names. I think they each picked an animal to be a part of their names. Sam’s name was Fearless Tiger Sam.

Here is his class saying their blessing before getting to eat.

Hayes enjoyed getting to spend time in Sam’s class. He wanted out of the stroller so bad so I eventually let him out.

photo 2

He was so good though. He just stood next to Sam as he ate his lunch. For a little while they even held hands. It was super sweet and that is what they were doing in this picture.

photo 3

Another mom was sweet enough to take a picture of all three of us.

So cute!

Now Sam thinks it is time for Christmas because his teacher told him that Christmas is right after Thanksgiving. He doesn’t understand that there is still over a month to go.

I also was able to get the email address of his best buddies mom. He always talks about Caleb and how much they play together. Caleb’s dad was there so I introduced myself and asked for his wife’s contact info so we could get the boys together to play outside of school. Sam was so excited but very disappointed that the playdate was not going to happen today.

Our Weekend

Saturday, I took Reese to the Rockette’s with my mom and sister. It was a nice girls day out. We went to lunch first and then to the 2:00 show. Reese was super excited. The show was nice and we had a nice time with everyone.

My mom took some pictures with her camera (I forgot mine). I took a couple with my cell phone though.

photo 1

I was so tired that day and during the first half I felt like I was going to fall asleep. Not because of the show, just because I was so stinking tired. At the intermission I went to get a Coke and felt like a whole new person in the second half.

photo 2

After church on Sunday, we drove out to Adrienne’s house to visit.

524

The kids had so much fun going down this slide over and over.

527

They put a bean bag at the bottom of the slide and would flip over it. It was so funny to watch.

528

How cute are these boys??

530

531

They tired themselves out nicely. All three of the kids fell asleep on the way home.

534

Let’s not forget about the babies who played so well too!

536

How sweet is that face?

537

And this is a picture from when we were at their house last time for Emme’s birthday. It is too cute not to include.

Thanks for the pictures, A!

Cutting teeth

Reese and Hayes are both cutting teeth. Reese has her six year molars coming in. I didn't even know they came in this young until Reese said she could feel a tooth. I looked and sure enough there was one cutting the gum. Hayes is cutting his one year molars. I knew those were coming and he has tolerated them very well.

Boys Well Visit

I finally got the boys to the pediatrician for their well visit the other day. I needed a nap after it! Ah! Sam knew he was getting some shots so he was a mess the whole time. He was not behaving the way I know he can and he kept interrupting while the nurse was asking me questions. Hayes was getting in to everything! He was opening every drawer, every cabinet, climbing on stools, and dumping things out. I was about to go crazy because I answered all of the same questions the nurse was asking me online before we got there. At one point during the questions, Hayes falls off the stool he was climbing on and smacks his head on the edge of the table. He got two huge bruises on the side of his face and bit his tongue. Finally she left after the millions of questions, eye exams, hearing exams, etc. When it was shot time Sam wanted Hayes to go first so he watched everything, cried while Hayes cried and then tried to run from me when I went to pick him up and put him on the table. While I was carrying him over to the table, he screamed that he wanted to climb up by himself. I went to put him down to let him climb up and he tried to run away from me. The nurse laughed and told him it was a cute try. After I was completely deaf from the screaming in my ears, it was time to go. My kids are so dramatic!

Hayes’ one year stats are comparable to Reese and Sam’s at that same age. He is 29.75” tall (41%) and weighs 22 lbs, 8 oz (67%).

Making Dinner with Crying Babies

There is a phase that all three of my kids have gone through. It is called “Let’s give Mommy a hard time while she tries to make dinner”! When Hayes was crying at my leg the other night, I knew I had to take a picture of him because I have pictures of both of the other two doing the same thing.

Lessons in parenting

Reese: says something unkind to Sam...I can't remember exactly what

Me: "Reese, please speak kindly to Sam. Words can hurt feelings and we want to be kind to others."

Five seconds later...
I am trying to merge, teenage boy speeds up so I can't merge.
Me: "Nice, Jerk!"

Ugh! Luckily she didn't call me out this time.

Sunday, Sunday

We started our Sunday morning off super lazy. A church that we are visiting has a service at 9:30 and 11:15. We usually go to the 11:00 service at our church so we just jumped to the 11:15 at this church. Part of me thinks it would be great to go to the 9:30 service and have the rest of the day to do stuff. But a big part of me loves not having church until 11:15. There is never any other time of our day/week where the five of us just hang around the house being lazy together. It was kind of nice to have that time together.

After church we came home, had lunch, and then sent all the kids to their rooms for some quiet time. While they were all sleeping/playing in their rooms, Lance and I hung the rest of our lights outside. I love how they look and I can’t wait to use them more often.

Once every one was up, we headed to Lance’s nephews baseball game. There is a baseball complex that backs up to our neighborhood and that is where he was playing. We can see the lights from our back patio and on Saturday and Sunday afternoons we can hear the cheers of parents as their kids play ball. It is one of the many reasons I love our house and neighborhood. We can also hear the high school games on Friday nights and I love to hear the band playing and the announcer calling the game. When we bought our house we were told there was a trail from our back yard over to the baseball complex so today we set off to follow that trail. It was so fun for all of us to walk over to the game together. I am sure that is only the first time of many we will make that walk.

Sammy is FOUR!

Our Sweet Sammy is four years old now! I can’t even believe it.

11-10-13 004

He woke us up whispering, “It’s my birthday! It’s my birthday!”, in a sing-songy voice. It was so cute. We pulled him up in our bed and snuggled him for a few minutes before anyone else came in.

11-10-13 006

I call him my “lovey” because he always sneaks in to our bed in the middle of the night. However, we are working on him staying in his own bed now.

We decided to take everyone to the airport restaurant to celebrate his birthday since all of the kids love it there. We got to see a lot of planes come in.

11-10-13 022

11-10-13 023

Every time one would go by the window, Hayes would get so excited and point at it.

11-10-13 024

They have a new drink call a Liquid Nitrogen Martini. We decided the kids would love to get a special treat and see the excitement so we ordered the virgin Shirley Temple version.

11-10-13 025

They thought it was super cool. And yummy too!

11-10-13 026

While we were eating dinner this big jet came in and parked right outside the window. Everyone in the restaurant was glued to the window to see who would step out of there. Unfortunately no one did except the pilots. I think people were about to board it when we were leaving. It was fun to see such a big plane that close but it blocked our view of the runway.

We had a great day celebrating Sam and we are so proud of the big boy he is becoming.

Celebrating Our Boys

Yesterday we had a family birthday party for Sam and Hayes. We had aunts, cousins, grandparents and great-grandparents at our house. It was a nice day celebrating our boys!

Our November Birthday Gang

11-3-13 003

Brody, the baby whisperer. Hayes wanted nothing to do with picture taking and cried while trying to get pictures. When I sat him in Brody’s lap for a quick picture he immediately stopped crying and just sat there relaxed.

11-3-13 038

Hayes wasn’t feeling good at all. He was whiny and whimpering most of the day. But outside where he could walk around was perfect. Lance squatted down to take his picture walking and he got so excited….

11-3-13 046

11-3-13 047

You can tell Hayes wasn’t feeling well looking at his eyes. Poor buddy! He didn’t feel well for several days but seems to be doing better today.

11-3-13 048

After some pictures we did birthday cake. I just made cupcakes for everyone and made little small cakes for Hayes and Sam. Hobby Lobby had some mustache and neck tie themed plates that said “Happy Birthday Little Man” so we ran with that theme. I just ironed on the mustaches to Sam and Hayes’ shirt to go along with that theme.

11-3-13 107

11-3-13 113

Doesn’t he look so pitiful?

11-3-13 062

It took Hayes a second to get going but then he dove in to the cake.

11-3-13 069

He loved every bit of the it…but wasn’t sure about everyone singing to him.

11-3-13 080

Next it was Sam’s turn to have everyone sing to him. He enjoyed the singing and the icing!

11-3-13 072

Yesterday was also Lance’s dads actual birthday. After the birthday party for the boys, his family hung around for a cookout to celebrate Pop. We cooked out and then made s’mores. This is a bad picture but the only one I got of the evening. A few days ago we started stringing lights up over our patio but are waiting for a few more strings to come from Target. I can’t wait until they are all here and see how beautiful it is in the back.

Happy birthday to our sweet little men!
