Little Cheerleader

Reese is cheering this football season and she is SO excited about it. She is loving every single minute. It is a big commitment because she decided to do competition cheerleading as well. She is doing some type of cheer practice/tumbling class four days a week right now and it will move to five days soon. I get a little freaked out about the commitment if I think of the big picture so I have to focus on one day at a time. She is so cute though and so loud out there!

Hayes's First Day of School

Hayes had his first day of two year old preschool on Thursday.  Tuesday morning was meet and greet. We some how ended up being the only people in there meeting his teacher at the time that we came so she got to really see Hayes. He played with the cars, trucks, and fire truck while I talked to his teacher. She seems really sweet and has been teaching preschool for almost thirty years but is new to this school. When I asked Hayes if he would take a picture with her, he said no! So he took my picture with her instead. Ha! When I told him it was time to leave he was not happy with me and yelled no. All of that to say, he just went ahead and showed her exactly who he is. There should not be any questions about him now.

Thursday morning he was so excited. I really didn't know what to expect from him but I think having seen Sam and Reese do this he was happy to get to do it himself. However, he did think he was going to get to ride the bus. We took pictures on the front porch and Lance had decided to work at home the first couple of hours that morning so he was there to take pictures too.

We got to the school and I realized we forgot his name tag hanging on his hook at home. Lance ran it up to us quickly so we had some time in car line to hang out a bit.

I really didn't know how he would do getting out of the car and walking in to the school but he just did it. It was like he had done this for years...or was keeping a watchful eye on his brother all last year.

He had a great day and told me about several things he did. He sang some songs for us that he learned and said he found his BFF, Hadley, on the playground. He was so happy to see her and get to play with her. He told me, "Me want Hadley in my class." He doesn't understand why they are not in the same class but he is excited to get to see her during the day. I am so proud of him and I don't think there is going to be any problem with him wanting to go back on Tuesday.

I compared pictures of all three kids from their first days of preschool.

Reese was barely two...I think she had only been two for a month. Sam and Hayes are both closer to three. I had no idea that Sam had worn the same shirt as Hayes on the first day of school.  Too funny! Hayes probably would have worn the same shorts but had just worn them to meet and greet on Tuesday. I can't believe how fast time flies and that both of the big kids are in elementary school now.

Hayes and Hadley

I feel so grateful that Hayes gets to do life with his sweet cousin, Hadley. They have the sweetest friendship and love to spend time together. Yesterday he got to play with her while I was out and Claire sent me these pictures. They are the most precious babies ever!

About Sam

Sam's teacher gave the parents homework the first week of school. She asked us to tell her "about your child in a million words or less". I wanted to remember what I told her so I am going to put it here for memory sake.

All About our Sweet Sam

·     He is an early riser…like 6:00 AM. It used to be earlier but we had to make a 6:00 AM rule for him. Once he is up…he is up and ready to face the day…or play on an old iPhone.
·      He is a true middle child. He is sweet as can be but can push his sibling’s buttons faster than any one else.
·      He plays baseball. He likes baseball. He is good at baseball. BUT if given the choice of playing a sport or just staying home with Mommy, he would totally stay home with Mommy! He is a homebody.
·      He is a loving friend and makes friends easily and makes best friends quickly.
·      He is touchy-feely. He loves to hug his friends. He loves to snuggle. We call him our Lovie.
·      He is sensitive.
·      We call him Grandpa Sam at home. Because he is an early riser, he is always ready for bed at an early hour….and for some funny reason he loves to wear black socks.
·      He loves to dress nicely in a shirt, tie, slacks and sports coat. He will dress up around the house this way and pretend to be a spy while wearing a pair of his Daddy’s old glasses.
·      He would choose Chick-fil-a or pizza to eat any day. He can be a pretty picky eater.
·      He can be really shy at first but will eventually come out of his bubble.
·      When he says he has to go to the bathroom, he means right.that.very.minute.
·      We have two kittens that he adores. He feeds them every morning with out being asked. He carries them around like they are babies. I know he will be a great dad one day!
·      He may or may not be the messiest kid on the planet.  We always know what chair was his at the table and we always know what we had to eat based on his shirt.
·      His favorite color is red. It always has been!

·      He is a Georgia Tech fan!

Back to School ~ 2015

Reese and Sam started school today! Ahh! I can't believe our summer is over...just like that!

Just like when Reese started Kindergarten, Sam was in our room at 5:10 this morning. Last night they both were having a hard time falling asleep because they were so excited. Reese slept until her alarm went off but she popped right out of bed.

Third grade looks good on this girl. I think she is going to have a great year! The friends that ended up in her class I am so happy with and you know you have a good teacher when there are other teachers kids in your class.

And this guy! He is super pumped about Kindergarten. I think it helps him to have an older sister already at the school. I think with his personality this morning would have gone a bit different if Reese hadn't already gone through all of this. I am very happy with his teacher too. I think she is going to be strict and expects a lot from them but I have heard so many success stories from her classroom. He is bummed that none of his preschool friends are in his class but I know he will make some great friends this year.

We took our normal array of pictures before heading out to take them to school. Sam wanted us to walk him in on the first day. I think he was truly torn though because he is most excited about riding the bus.

We finally got to the school and Sam was not scared one bit. He just walked right in like he had been doing it forever.

He didn't even look back once he walked through that door. We passed a mom from his baseball team last season after she had dropped her little guy off. She had big tears in her eyes so I just grabbed her and gave her a big hug...I barely even know the lady but I knew we both needed that hug. ;-) Next we dropped Reese off but I didn't get her picture at her classroom. I know they are having a great day! I can't wait to hear all about it this afternoon. I am so excited about what this year has to hold for each of our kids. We all prayed over the school year this summer and I truly think the kids will have a great school year because of it.

Hayes and I have been wandering around the house not sure what to do with ourselves. I guess we will get back in to a routine now and I am happy about that.

This morning we even had each of the kids take our picture together....
