Thanksgiving School Party

Last Thursday Sam’s class had a Thanksgiving feast. He was very shy and quiet when I first got there. He quickly got over that.

They had some yummy treats.

I had fun visiting with him in his class. It is always so cute to see the kids in their own element.

More Firsts

Today was my first day without Lance home. He went back to work a day earlier than planned. I think he was getting anxious about how much work was piling up.

Today was also my first time driving with all three kids in the car. We had to pick Reese up from school to go to ballet. I usually take Sam to the library during ballet but decided against that for now until Hayes is bigger. Instead I let him just watch a movie in the car. Hayes just slept the whole time.

In Pictures

Thursday, Lance was able to go to Sam’s school and celebrate his birthday with his class. I found some Power Ranger rings online to use as decorations for cupcakes. I also bought some Power Ranger plates. When Sam saw them he was so excited. He couldn’t wait to use them.

11-11-12 001

Lance said that Sam was very quiet while he was there. When he asked his teacher if he was normally like that she said no. He is usually their most interactive in class. He is also the oldest in his class so that is not really surprising.

11-11-12 002

He was very excited about the birthday crown. I was so sad that I was not able to go and celebrate with him but I think he was thrilled to have Daddy there with him.

11-11-12 004

Friday was parent watch day at ballet. Once again I was not able to go so Lance had a sneak peek in to Reese’s pink and girly world.

11-11-12 016

I am glad Lance had this chance. He gets to hear all about ballet but only ever gets to see the recital. This showed him things they are doing in class way before the recital even comes around. I think Reese (secretively) enjoyed having Daddy there as well.

11-11-12 040

This weekend was a weekend full of celebrating Sam. Saturday Lance’s family came over with CFA and presents. Sam is officially a Power Ranger with all of the gear he racked up this weekend.

Saturday night we just chilled. It was a nice night to just relax. After being held so much during the day, Lance laid Hayes down on the floor to stretch out some. When he put him on his stomach he fell right asleep. Sam wanted to snuggle up to him.

11-11-12 087

We decided we wanted to see all three of the kids side by side. However, they were not really interested in us taking their picture so this was the best we could do.

11-11-12 088

Today, my parents and grandmother came over for some more celebrating of Sam. He got some fun super hero clothes and another birthday cake.

We had a great weekend and are so thankful for family who want to celebrate our sweet babies.

Sam is Three!!

Today is Sam's third birthday! I can not even believe my sweet baby boy is three. We had a nice day celebrating him. This morning, bright and early, he opened his presents. Lance brought him an icing covered doughnut home after dropping Reese off at school. And tonight he got to choose our movie for pizza and a movie night...Power Rangers, of course. Yesterday, Lance took cupcakes to his class to celebrate. Hopefully, I will get more pictures up tomorrow but for now these are the ones I captured on my phone.

Updates

Monday, Hayes had his first visit to the doctor. He weighed 9 lbs, 1 oz. The funniest thing to us was his length. When he was born he was 22.5" long. However, he had a major cone head because of the amount of time he was stuck in the birth canal. We laughed at the time that he would loose an inch or so once the cone went away. Well after two tries at measuring him at the doctors office, Hayes was only 21" long! A whole inch and a half was lost!

Today Lance needed to go to the grocery store after Reese was home from school. He wanted to leave both kids home with me but I wasn't up for that challenge just yet. He decided to take Sam with him and leave Reese home with me. I really wanted to take a shower and Reese really wanted to hold Hayes so we worked out a plan. She held him on my bed while I showered! She did a great job. I set up my iPad with a movie on it and I could see them the whole time. She just cuddled him and watched her movie. It was perfect and she was a great big help!

Paci-on-fire

I wasn't quite sure how Sam would be once the baby was born. I should have known he would have no problems. He is so chill most of the time and just goes with the flow.

He likes to hold "Baby Hayes" and make sure that he always has his lovey.

The funniest thing that Sam says is "Paci-on-fire". When Hayes is crying he asks if he wants his "paci-on-fire" so he will stop crying.

It cracks me up to hear him say this. He is so funny and so sweet!

Our Sweet Baby-Day 1

After putting the kids to bed on Halloween night, Lance and I headed to bed too. With in minutes of getting in bed I noticed that my contractions felt more consistent and stronger. I decided to start timing them before I said anything to Lance. I didn’t want to say anything to him before I needed to. After timing them for a while I went to the bathroom, he was already asleep, and then came back in to our room and told him I thought I was in labor. We found a contractions timer online and saw that my contractions were 4-6 minutes apart. After timing them for an hour, I called the doctor on call. She was in a c-section so she didn’t call back for a while. During that time we packed up everything and straightened up a bit just in case she sent us in. She finally called back and was hesitant but said since it was my third to go ahead to the hospital. Later she said she didn’t really think I was in labor because I sounded so calm on the phone. I was probably calm because I didn’t think I was either. This was my first time actually going in to labor with any of my babies so I didn’t really know what to expect. After getting the go ahead, I called my neighbor first so that someone could sit with the kids until my sister could get out to my house. I had a hard time leaving with out telling the kids but I decided that was the best decision to make. It was just after midnight when we left. My contractions were getting more intense but still none that were overwhelming. We got all checked in and settled around 1:00 am.

11-4-12 033

This was the last picture that was taken before baby. I was five cm at this point. As in the past I don’t really remember much of what happened after this point until it was time to push. I know I got an epidural some time in here, was checked again at 9 cm, and then around 5:00 am the doctor came in for the first time and said it was time to go. She said we should have a baby out very soon. Well, two hours of pushing later we were getting nervous (and I was so tired). The baby was stuck on the bone because as we found out later he was sunny side up and I just couldn’t push enough to get him around the bone. She started threatening a c-section, had a surgeon team in the room ready to go, and NICU in there ready for anything. Basically I had a cheering team (they literally were cheering me on) watching everything happen. The baby’s heart rate kept dropping and the doctor was afraid the cord was around the neck too. Finally at 6:57 am, our little gummy bear made his way out. No one even said boy or girl because everyone was just relieved to see that baby! Finally I asked, “What is it?”. Lance’s job from the beginning was to announce the sex but even he was just caught up in knowing the baby was finally there. He looks down and said it was a boy! That is when I cried. I didn’t cry with either of the other kids but after the rough few hours we had I couldn’t hold it in. The nursery team quickly checked him out and he was perfect! And I finally got to meet our Baby Gummy Bear.

11-4-12 034

11-4-12 037

It was such a relief to hold him. The next thing I had to look forward to was telling Reese and Sam all about their little brother, Hayes. Right around the time Hayes was born it was time for the kids to wake up. Becca said that when Sam walked in to our room that morning he saw her and ran back to his bed. He didn’t know what to think and I don’t think he was excited to see her. She told them Baby Gummy Bear had been born but she couldn’t tell them anything else until they saw us. We made a last minute decision to let them both stay home from school so they could come to the hospital first thing that morning. I don’t think school could have handled them anyways after that crazy morning. We were finally settled in our recovery room around 10:00 and got to see the kids there. My mom said Reese kept begging them to tell her if it was a boy or girl but they didn’t give in. As they walked down the hall to our room, I could hear them singing, “I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it!”. It was too cute. Finally they made their way in and we told them. They were both excited but a little shocked. Reese immediately climbed up in the bed with me to see him. She was very emotional that morning. Her eyes were watery most of the time and she kept saying she just needed to blow her nose. For some reason she didn’t want me to know she was crying but I don’t think she really understood why she was either. It was really sweet though.

11-4-12 072

Sam wasn’t sure what to think at all. At first he did not think that Baby Hayes was the same as Baby Gummy Bear. He wouldn’t come see me either. I don’t think he liked seeing me sitting in the hospital bed. When ever someone was holding Hayes he would “pet Baby Hayes’ head”. Never once did he sit with me until I was finally home. Then he gave me the biggest hug.

Halloween 2012…a little late

I wanted to make sure we still got pictures from Halloween on here even though life has been crazy the last few days. So here we go…

We did our normal Halloween tradition. Our neighbors came over for pizza and then we all went out to Trick or Treat. Jenny and I walked down the street with every one so that we could see the kids go to a few houses and then we headed back to our house to hand out candy. It was such a nice night we set up some chairs in the driveway and handed out candy from there.

11-4-12 008

This year Reese went as Snow White. She had a hard time deciding what she wanted to be. We went round and round with different costumes. She finally decided she wanted to be Rapunzel so we headed to the Disney store for a costume. But when we got there the choices were endless and she couldn’t decide. She saw a bag of Snow White jewelry and wanted it so bad. I told her she could get the jewelry if she was Snow White for Halloween (we bought a Snow White dress while at Disney last year). She decided that was the way to go!

11-4-12 012

Sam went as the red Power Ranger. One of Reese’s friends introduced Power Rangers to our house and Sam loves it! We actually bought his costume a month or so ago and he wore it at least every other day up until Halloween. He was so excited for Halloween to finally arrive. He uses a golf club as his sword and a flip phone as his Samurizer (that is how you turn in to a Power Ranger). See the phone in his hand below. He takes his role as a Power Ranger very seriously.

11-4-12 023

I am so glad we got this last silly family picture before we finally got to meet Baby Gummy Bear!

11-4-12 015

Reese and Emma ready for some candy. I can’t believe they have been doing this together for five years now! Time flies!

11-4-12 024

While we were out we ran in to one of Reese’s friends. He lives down the street and are in class together. He is super sweet and a great little friend! I just love that smile on Reese’s face!

11-4-12 025

This is another of Reese’s friends house but she was still getting ready so I didn’t see her here. Reese ran in to her later once I was back at the house and didn’t get a picture with her.

11-4-12 030

All of the kids had so much fun running up to each house for some candy. Sam would ask over and over to eat it. There is no telling how much candy he actually ate that night. Jenny and I enjoyed our time sitting in our chairs, handing out candy while the dads did all the work. After they circled the block they came back to our house and the girls helped us hand out the rest of the candy. It was a late night for the kids and little did we know that our lives were about to make a big change that night!
