Afternoon Artists

After naps (or quiet time for Reese) the kids painted.

8-15-11 004

I bought this bird house for Reese at the beginning of the summer and we just never got around to painting it.  She asked all day if she could paint it so by the time I got it out she was thrilled.

8-15-11 005

I just let Sam use some water paints thinking he wouldn’t make too big of a mess.  Once the water was spilled, his painting time was over.

8-15-11 007

Reese had a lot of paint left over so she took the easel outside and did some more painting.  I need to take a picture of her finished product.  It was really good.

8-15-11 008b

While Reese painted Sam cut the grass, played in the sand, and did a little superman swinging.  He loves being outside.  I can’t wait for it to be a little cooler so we can enjoy it more.

Not His Shade

Sam banged his eye on the TV stand Thursday night and got a nice bruise above it.  It looks like he got a hold of some eye shadow and it is not his shade!

Our Busy Free Day

Today was a rarity…we had nothing to do! We could do what ever we wanted!! Sam woke up at 6:20 this morning so our day got started early.  We had breakfast as a family and then headed to Target for school supplies shopping.  Of course everything was almost sold out so we still have one thing to go out and buy before we meet the teachers. After that we headed to Sport Clips to get Lance’s hair cut.  We decided we might as well go ahead and get Sam’s hair cut while we were there too.

8-13-11 013

He did a great job but the girl cut a little more off than I wanted.  Some of the curls seem to be in hiding right now but I have a feeling as his hair grows back out some will return.  If not, oh well.

Yesterday I was doing laundry and our washing machine decided it didn’t want to drain.  It has done this before but always ended up draining if I reset it.  But I tried four times and it didn’t work (until Lance got home and kept the lid up while messing with it).  It also has days where it doesn’t want to spin and I will have to reset it to spin too.  We had this problem back in 2008 and replaced the motor in it.  Lance bought this inexpensive, nothing fancy machine back in 2001 so it is starting to struggle.  We decided today was the day to replace the washer and dryer (the dryer has been having some motor problems too).  We bought the new ones from Sears and for the first time buying an appliance we felt like we got a good deal.  The guy saw both of us with our iPhones out so instead of making us find prices to compare he went out and found prices for us! He gave us $250 off of each machine (washer and dryer) than the price they had listed!! We will have them delivered on Monday and I am excited to feel like our clothes are actually getting cleaned!

Earlier this week Reese asked Lance if he wanted to have a Daddy-Daughter night.  Who could turn that down? So she started planning.  They decided to go see the Smurf movie and then have dinner at Moe’s.  She was so excited.  She even picked out her favorite spinning dress to wear so she looked nice for their date. When they left Sam cried and asked about them the whole time they were gone. They had a great time.

Sam Says

“Say?” = What did you say?

“Mon” = Come on

“Mere” = Come here

“Hell-tock” = Helicopter

“Apane” = Airplane

“Mam” = Sam

If there is a picture of Sam and you ask who that is, he will say “Me” while pointing to himself.

“Ain’t” = Ant (and he points them all out)

He has now started saying “Mommy” and “Daddy” instead of “ma-ma” and “da-da”. It is so cute!

“Tuck” = Truck (he says this if he sees them and if he hears sirens)

“Woud” = Loud (while covering his ears)

“Mou” = Mickey Mouse

There are so many cute things that he says and I just can’t remember them all! I love that he is learning so many new things right now.  He is so fun to watch grow.

Sleeping Beauty

The kids think it is so funny to play Sleeping Beauty.  Usually Sam will lay down and pretend to be asleep while Reese kisses him back to life.  He gets a kick out of it and will “go to sleep” over and over again.

Yesterday Reese was Sleeping Beauty and Sam was kissing her back to life.  (sorry these pics are from my phone)

But she wouldn’t wake up so he attempted to wake her up a different way.

They are so silly!

Spray Park…Again!

We went out to the Roswell Spray Park again today.  Sam had a great time as you can see from the pictures.  Reese was a stinker as you can tell from her lack of pictures.

Awesome Hair Day!

Wednesday night we had a babysitter so I didn’t want her to have to wash Reese’s hair after a day at the pool.  So Thursday morning before her friends came over I washed her hair.  As it dried naturally, it dried beautifully.  Seriously it was probably her best hair day ever!! I just had to take pictures.

Picture taking started out kind of rough…she was not interested.

8-4-11 022

So then I promised her a brownie if she would go outside and let me take a few pictures while she smiled.

8-4-11 026

Success! A little bribing never hurt anything.

8-4-11 028

Her curls just laid perfectly and there was no crazy frizzy messes.

8-4-11 029

Oh how I wish this picture wasn’t so washed out.  I may have to play with it some because it is too precious to leave washed out.

8-4-11 051

And we couldn’t leave Sam out.

8-4-11 044

He wasn’t interested in picture taking either so he just ran around while I tried to snap a few pictures.

8-4-11 042

And of course he tripped and fell while he was running around so I needed to snap that!

8-4-11 047

And now for my two favorite pictures of two of my favorite people that have made their way to my side bar…

Birthday Playdate

This year we did not have a birthday party for Reese.  Instead we had a little playdate yesterday with some little girls her age.  Three of her friends were able to come over to play and they had a great time. As soon as the first one got there they were off to play.

8-4-11 001

There was a little bit of dressing up…as always.

8-4-11 002

And playing. Sam had to tag along too with the girls.  He is going to LOVE having an older sister when they are in high school.

8-4-11 009

I did try to keep him out of their hair though.  While they were playing upstairs I tried to entertain him some downstairs.

8-4-11 011

For lunch I ordered a pizza and they loved that! When the pizza guy showed up at the door they all started cheering!

8-4-11 012

After pizza I gave them some cupcakes to decorate which they enjoyed too.

8-4-11 013

Reese had a blast with her friends today.  It was fun to see them all play together and entertain each other.

8-4-11 016

And this little guy had fun too!

High Five

I remember the Highlights magazines from when I was little.  I think they came to my dad’s office and we would check them out there. A while back my grandma sent Reese the Highlights High Five magazines and she loves them!  Every month they come and she gets so excited.

8-3-11 002

Her favorite thing to do in them is the search and find pictures.  These were such a great idea from my grandma and I am so glad she signed Reese up for it.

Hello Kitty Nails

Reese’s Aunt Kathy gave her some Hello Kitty press-on nails for her birthday.  She could not wait to put them on so we finally did today.

8-3-11 005

The funniest thing was watching her try to do something with her nails on.  She was cracking me up.  She didn’t even think she could eat dinner with them but she finally figured it out.  After dinner she had food under her nails and had to go and wash them out.  It was too funny!

8-3-11 006

Hopefully they are not still on her while she is in bed.  The babysitter put the kids to bed tonight and I am hoping they came off in the tub instead of finding them in her sheets later.

White Water

Today we went to White Water with some friends.  I haven’t been to WW since I was in high school.  I wasn’t sure what to expect today but we had a blast!  Obviously no pictures were taken today but believe me there were tons of smiles.

There were two areas in the park that were mainly for little kids.  The first area we went in to was a large splash pad type of area.  There were a lot of spray areas, slides and fun! Once the kids had fun there we moved on.

The next area was more of a pool type area with a huge play area in the middle.  The water was about a foot deep so Sam had to wear his water wings in this area.  There were also three bigger slides.  Two of the slides were twisty slides and were pretty slow. The third slide was a wide slide that went straight down and was pretty fast.  I took the kids to the top to slide and Sam was ready but Reese was screaming.  She wanted nothing to do with the slides.  So I took Sam down who had a blast and Reese went back down the stairs.  Some how I got her back up to the top and made her get on the slide kicking and screaming while my friend took Sam down.  The second Reese’s feet hit the pool she jumped up and ran to the stairs to do it again (with tears still in her eyes).  By the end of the day she was going up and down all by herself.

After playing in the kids areas we went to the lazy river.  Both kids loved this!  They just floated and enjoyed them selves.  From the lazy river we headed over to the wave pool which was again a hit.  We headed out to the parking area to have lunch and our friends left after lunch but we headed back in for more fun.  We did all of the fun slides, lazy river, and wave pool again.  Around 2:30, I could tell Sam was done so we headed home.

We had such a wonderful day and I am so thankful we had some fun friends to go with! I can’t wait to take the kids again!!

Around the House

In order for me to get the dishes done or make dinner or really anything I don’t want Sam hanging on me for, I have been setting the kids up at the table to color.  Along with Reese, Sam loves markers.  He will walk around the house when he is ready to color and say, “mark? mark?”.  The kitchen table has turned in to the craft table.  There are marker marks all over the table.  I guess I should invest in a nice table cloth to cover up the mess when people come over.

7-31-11 001

Reese gets to use markers or paints if she chooses.  She is so sweet to help Sam pull the tops off of the markers if he needs help.

7-31-11 004

They both also love stickers.  Reese will help Sam pull the stickers off so that he can stick them on the paper.

7-31-11 005

Another fun thing that happens around the house is dress up.  Reese cracked me up one day when she walked down the stairs with two dresses on.

7-31-11 008

She does try to put dresses on Sam and even though he will wear necklaces, headbands, etc. he puts his foot down on the dresses. Ha!  He tells her no when she tries to dress him.

I can’t believe school will be starting soon and we won’t have all of this fun time together.  We better live it up!
