Crazy Hair Day

Reese’s school has had spirit week this week.  Monday was pajama day, Tuesday was spirit wear, and today was crazy hair day.  Crazy hair day is easy for us because she wakes up with crazy hair every day but we decided to look for something more fun.  We have talked about and seen pictures of Pippy Long Stocking but have not seen the movies.  I asked Reese if she wanted her hair like that and she said yes.

Yesterday we practiced doing her hair.

And today was the big day.  Reese was so excited all day yesterday and this morning.  On our way to school she was wondering what other people’s hair was going to look like.  I could tell she was starting to get nervous and she kept an eye on every kid as they got out of their car to see what their hair looked like.  She got a little quiet as we pulled up but as soon as the door opened to the car and the teachers started doting over her she got a big smile on her face.

When I picked her up from school the first thing she said was, “Everybody loved my hair.  Ms. Robyn kept calling me Pippy.”  She looked too cute and I just giggle every time I looked at her.

Easter 2011

Sunday morning we had to wake the kids up early so that we had enough time to all get ready, see what the Easter Bunny brought and get to church on time for the early service so that we could get out to my parents house for lunch with the family.  Here is how the day looked:

Waiting patiently to go downstairs and see what treats are waiting on them…

This picture is probably my favorite of the day.  They both took off running as soon as their feet hit the downstairs floor.  I am not sure what Sam thought he was running to but since Reese was so excited he was excited too.

After each thing they pulled out of their basket, they would run it over to me to see.

And Sam had to get in to all of the candy!!  He would hold it in his hand until it melted or try to bite through the wrapper.  He is a junk food lover just like the rest of us.

After a wonderful church service, we went to my parents house for lunch with my parents, Becca, and my dad’s brothers family.

My mom bought us the Resurrection Eggs so I read the stories to Reese while we waited on family to arrive.

I love this picture…I just wish that silly stick was not in front of her face.

We also had my mom take family pictures for us.  We don’t all get to dress up often and at the same time so it was nice to get some picture proof.

Reese looks like she is Sam’s puppet master.

They got to play with bubbles and chalk outside.

And then they had an Easter Egg hunt with one of my cousin’s kids.

Sam did so well for his first egg hunt.  He never seemed interested in hunting with Reese when we would have them in the backyard but he enjoyed it.

After everyone was gone, I tried on my wedding dress for Reese.  Well, I attempted to.  To say the least, it definitely does not fit anymore.  She loved it though and wanted to try it all on too.

What a blessed day we had!

More Sam Videos

Sam played peek-a-boo with himself for a while in the mirror. I couldn’t get my phone to turn on fast enough but I caught the last time he did it. Then he starts pointing out his facial features. Once he catches me filming him, he turns in to a silly, typical little boy banging things around.

One of Reese’s favorite games to play is Hide and Go Seek. Sam recently started “counting” so that he can play too. The “counting” sounds like “uh, uh, uh”. The other day he “counted” to seven. Ha! Then he runs to find Reese. He always knows where she is. Don’t mind the mess around the house!!

More Hunting

Some of my "Bad Mommy" award was forgiven today.

Reese was supposed to have an Easter egg hunt at school today and then an outdoor fun day afterwards. Well they changed the outdoor fun day to Monday and invited parents to come both days. I decided not to go on Monday because I had so much to do. I didn't think Reese would be upset at all but I was SO wrong. When I picked her up from school she immediately started crying and asking why I was not there. She said ALL the other moms were there...turns out there were only two other moms there. I felt horrible though. I told Lance I could not decide if I should laugh or cry. Reese is so dramatic so for her to react that way is not surprising but I really felt bad.

So today was the egg hunt and I went. I was planning to go all along but nothing could have stopped me today! Most of the girls were dressed in sweet little Easter dresses and everyone was precious carrying their Easter baskets. They had fun hunting for eggs and were so excited when it was over. They had a cute little Easter treat in their room after the hunt and then the parents left.

Would you believe that when I pulled my camera out to take pictures the battery was dead?? The pictures I have are from my phone. So much for being prepared today.

Sam, of course, loved every minute. He ran to the door when I told him where we were going. He waved to Reese a dozen times with a huge grin on his face. When it was snack time he couldn't stop hugging her. It was SO sweet!!

Easter Egg Hunts

For the past week we have been hunting eggs almost every day.  Reese loves to hide them and find them all over the house and outside.

Today we had an Easter egg hunt with our friends.  I was afraid it was going to rain but the rain held off.  The kids had a blast running around the backyard and finding all of the eggs.  After the hunt each kid kept their basket full of eggs close…I mean, no more than arm lengths away.  It was too funny.  I, unfortunately, did not get one single picture!  Uggg!

The Last Few Days

We’ve had a busy weekend and I can’t believe it is already Sunday night. We started our Friday out with some excitement.  About ten minutes after I woke up my neighbor called and asked if her daughter could come over because she was in labor.  Reese, of course, was super excited.  When Emma got to our house she was a little sad because she wanted to go with her parents to get her baby brother.

4-17-11 007

So the girls snuggled up on the couch to watch Toy Story 2.  Emma finally relaxed and the girls had a blast playing together all day.  They dressed up, watched movies, and hid Easter eggs for each other to find.

4-17-11 008

Reese had ballet but there was no way I could fit all three car seats in my car so I called the mom of Reese’s friend in her ballet class and asked if she would take Reese for me.  Lance said, “Wouldn’t a minivan be nice right about now?”  I am so grateful for friends that are helpful when I need it and I am so grateful to be able to help out friends who are in need!

Emma’s grandmother was able to get on a plane and made it to town around 5pm so Emma went home to be with her.

These two cuties were supposed to have soccer Friday night (usually on Saturday morning) but the second we parked the car it started lightening so soccer was cancelled.  Reese was not one bit disappointed because that meant we got to have pizza and a movie night.  I finally broke down and let her watch Tangled.  I was going to save it for Easter but decided to do something different.  She was thrilled.

4-17-11 009

Saturday morning we went out to my parents house.  The kids hung out with them while Lance and I had a little date day.  We went to test drive some cars (for him), had lunch, did some Easter shopping, and just enjoyed spending the day together.  The kids were spoiled as usual.

We got home around dinner time and then Lance opened the bubble blowing lawn mower the kids got.  After playing outside for a while, Lance turned the box in to a robot costume for Reese.  It was hilarious and Reese giggles every time she puts it on.

Writing S

This week I have been working with Reese on writing her S (well as much as she would let me). She writes everything else in her name correctly but the S was always backwards. I gave her a few hints and helped her write it a couple of times and then left her alone. She likes to do things on her own and really loves praise. When she would get it correct I gave her a lot of praise but that was the extent of my helping her. I will have to find a comparison from earlier in the year to see how far she has come.

Spinning Skirt

Reese loves this “spinning skirt”.

4-6-11 005

She puts in on almost every day.

4-6-11 008

The other day she wanted to wear a skirt that would spin.  She put on a pink skirt and it didn’t spin enough so she had to put this one back on. She loves to spin.

Zoo Day

We had a fun day at the zoo today...along with a million other people. We took Reese's two favorite girls with us and they all had fun together. Not many pictures were taken minus these taken on my phone. It was just too much fun to ruin it with stopping for pictures. We have had a fun spring break so far but this was by far the highlight for Reese. She has been talking about it all week. We got to the zoo when it first opened and were out by 12:30. It was the perfect timing because it was nuts when we were leaving.

Eating lunch and playing charades.

Follow Up

Sam has his follow up visit with the ENT today. His ears look perfect and I am so relieved. Unfortunately, we had to get up extra early this morning and Sam did not take a good nap so this is what our afternoon looked like. He locked it up by dinner time and we had a nice Pizza and a Movie night.

We have all been fighting a cold this week and that turned in to a double ear infection for Reese...only the second one of her life. As long as she is medicated, she is a champ. Hopefully the antibiotic will fight the infection fast.

Summer, come quickly!!!
