3 Year Check-up

Today Reese had her three year old check up.  It is crazy that she is already almost three!!!  Yikes!  The doctor was happy with how she is growing, communicating, and everything else.

While we were waiting she had fun playing in the “crazy mirror”.  She thought it was so funny to see her head get big, small, long, etc.

This was the first time they offered her a gown to put on.  She said she didn’t want to wear it but I wanted her to at least try it on.  She had it on for about as long as it took to take this picture.  She said it hurt her.  Haha!  I thought it was soooo cute!

I scheduled Sam’s monthly vaccine for today too.  I didn’t know if Reese would be getting a vaccine or not.  When the doctor said she had one that was needed Reese was not happy.  I gave her the option of going first or letting Sam go first.  Big mistake!  I should have had her go first because as soon as Sam started crying she lost it!  It was horrible!  And she is not a quiet crier!!!  I am pretty sure she must have freaked out every kid that was waiting around.  It was so stressful trying to get Sam calmed down and then get Reese on the table.  I do not think I will EVER do that again!!

Reese is 38 inches tall (79%) and 36.8 pounds (93%). She has grown just over three inches and gained four pounds since her second birthday.

Sam weighed 18 pounds, 10 ounces today (I think!).

I feel so very blessed to have such healthy and happy babies!  Every time I look at them I can’t believe they are mine!!

After the doctors office we went to Target to try on shoes!  That makes all girls feel better!!

Picture Taking

Trying to get a good picture of the kids is not easy.  When Reese was a baby I took pictures of her every day…seriously…so I usually got a good picture or two to share.  With Sam I at least try to get a picture of him each month.  Ha!  Poor guy!  So on his month birthdays I sit him down for some pictures.  Here is how it goes…

I get him set up.

Shoot a couple of pictures.

I decide to move the pillow behind him.  And he starts to get bored.

Reese always wants to jump in. Apparently Sam doesn’t like to share the spotlight.

I decide that maybe I can get a better shot once he has clothes on instead of pajamas.
This picture looks like I photoshoped his head on.

Really?  You are still taking pictures.
7-9-10 016

You are blinding me.
7-9-10 017

Fine…I will just be silly.

Mom, I am done.

Seriously, I am out of here!

Oh No…

The big 3-0.

I turned 30 today.  I can’t say I am twenty-something any more.  I am now officially thirty-something.  I really had/have no problem turning 30.  I am so happy with my life and where I am right now that 30 is just a number.

This morning Lance got up and left for work like normal.  Around 7:20 or so Sam woke up so I went to get him out of bed and took him back to my room before he could wake Reese up.  About ten minutes later Reese opened my door and asked where Daddy was.  I told her he was at work.  “What’s that noise downstairs?” she asked.  “I don’t know. What do you hear?”  “I am going to go downstairs and see Daddy.”  I just said ok and sent her on her way.  She got about half way down the stairs, stopped, started back up the stairs, and yelled, “Mommy!  There are balloons!  You have to come see this!”  I said, “There are balloons?” and she said, “Yes!”  She got so excited and looked at me and said, “You know what that means?”  “What?”  “Happy Birthday, Mommy!!”  It was sooooo sweet!!  So the three of us headed down stairs.

Lance had decorated the downstairs with balloons and streamers.

And then we rounded the corner and he was sitting on the couch.  He took the day off to spend with us and it was perfect!  He had gone out and picked up some French Toast (my favorite breakfast).

We went to lunch at Chick-fil-A (another of our favorites).

After the kids took naps we had ice cream cake with my favorite Brusters ice cream…mint chocolate chip!

Tonight Lance had planned for us to go to dinner at Mellow Mushroom (haha…another favorite).  When we walked in my two best friends were there waiting on us.  I was so surprised and so happy to get to have dinner with them.  After dinner they came back to our house to have some more cake!

Here is what this 30 year old looks like today!  Thank you so much to all of the well wishers who have called, texted, etc today!  Especially thank you to my wonderful hubby!  He made me feel so very special today!  It has been one of the best birthdays ever!

Crazy Fairy

Reese wanted to wear this to church on the 4th.

7-5-10 019

She wanted to put her own clothes on.  She just forgot to take her pj’s off and added a few other accessories that we didn’t think would be proper attire for church.

S is for…

Stubborn…or Sam…or, well, they are interchangeable right now.

He used to be so calm and laid back.  I am not sure what has happened in the last month but the little man has found a major stubborn streak.

*When Sam wakes up in the morning he can not wait for one second to eat.  He immediately starts screaming like he is starving and has to be fed right then.  Nothing, and I mean nothing, can distract him.  Actually eating is like that for him most of the time.  When he is hungry, he is going to let me know!

*Every time I am putting the kids in to the car Sam throws his body around and fights getting buckled. He starts crying and arching his back.  I just have to let him thrash around for a minute and then sneak in and get him buckled.

*When I go to sit Sam down on the floor so that I can take care of something he straightens his legs out, arches his back, and wants nothing to do with sitting down.  If I walk out of the room, he goes crazy. I am pretty sure he can rival Reese when he cries.

*When it is time to take a nap he does not want anything to do with napping.  He thrashes around in my arms, cries, spits his pacifier out, and just makes things difficult.  Sometime I just have to lay him down in his bed, walk out, and let him cry for a little while.  Then I come back in, try again, and usually get him to sleep.

*He knows what he wants, when he wants it.  And he lets me know what that is!!!

Through out the day he goes through many emotions and behaviors.  Some other things that he is:

*Sweet

*Snuggly

*Smiley

I wouldn’t trade him for the world.  Even when he is being a stubborn little stinker.

Copy Cat

As I said before Sam has been going through some major separation anxiety. Well, Reese has decided that he is getting a lot of attention for this and she wants to do the same thing.

She cries when I leave and tells me I can’t leave her.

She wants to always be held.

She wants to sleep in my bed.

She has started crying at bedtime.

Sam pulls my hair often!  He pulls it right at the nape of my neck and anywhere else that it hurts.  So it gets a big reaction from me.  Tonight at the pool Reese wanted me to hold her. She wouldn’t let Lance play with her at all.  She started pulling on my hair and I asked her what she was doing.  She said she wanted to pull my hair and I asked why.  And she said, “Because I want to.”   I told her that was not very nice to do and then she said, “Babies pull hair.”

When we got home from the pool I took Sam out of his car seat and she immediately sat in it.  She has asked us several times if she could ride in his seat.

She is always talking about what babies do.  I don’t know how to break her out of this phase.  I try to give her attention and praise for doing “big girl” things.  Hopefully we can pull through it quickly.

Last Lesson

Today Reese had her last swim lesson with Becca.  She has learned so much in these last couple of weeks.  Today Reese was kind of whiny and not cooperative so I couldn’t get any good videos.  Luckily I was able to get a good video on my phone yesterday.

I am so proud of how Reese has done!!
