Relay For Life

After leaving the school we went straight to the fairgrounds. It is such a neat event and raises so much money for cancer research. Don't tell Lance but I spend frivolously when I am there because it goes to such a good cause. The kids ate dinner, ice cream, and funnel cakes, came home with painted faces, swords, and fun in the bounce houses. Both kids were dancing machines when there was music playing. As an added bonus we got to spend the whole evening with my parents, Becca and Tommy while running in to old friends and teachers.

We left around 9:45 or so and both kids were asleep by 10:00. What a sweet night we had.

Pool Time
Monday I pulled the kiddie pool out for the kids to play in for the first time this year. Reese was beyond excited. Sam took a little while to get warmed up. He stood in the same place holding on to the side for about 10 minutes.
Once Sam got comfortable he had a blast! Our neighborhood friends came over to play too. I told Jenny that Sam would probably be sliding down the slide by the end of the summer.
Never in a million years did I think that he would be sliding by the end of the day! When we first bought this pool two summers ago, Reese refused to go down the slide. Sam, on the other hand, has no fear! He climbed up the stairs and went down the slide a ton of times. He loved every minute of it!!

A Series of Pictures
The kids looked SO cute on Sunday and I just had to get their pictures. I asked them to climb up in the chair for pictures and they DID! Usually they run away from the camera so I was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately it is hard to get a picture of them both looking good in the picture. So here we go…
Sam is super excited…Reese is more interested in Phineas and Ferb. Ha!
Hey guys! I am over here! When this picture is big Sam is blurry! Oops!
Reese, get closer to Sam. Um, Sissy, what are you doing?
How about a kiss?
Sissy is so silly!
Reese is done.
I will use these pictures for Sam’s 18 month photo shoot. It will be hard to get him to sit here again.
“You Take the Good, You Take the Bad”
Good: Sam seems to have turned the corner in being left by me. All last week he walked in to the gym child care with out a tear. The real test was church though and he actually reached for his teacher when we walked up to the door. Today we went to the gym with out his doggy and paci and no tears!! Both girls even looked at me apprehensively and said, “No blanket?” Ha! I am one proud mama!!
Bad: He has learned how to say “NO!” from his sister.
You take them both and there you have the facts of life, the facts of life!

March for Babies 2011
Yesterday we walked in the March for Babies walk. It was such a beautiful morning!!
The kids were so good the whole entire walk. And it was much longer than they are usually in the stroller. The walk was 5.5 miles around downtown Atlanta. It started at the World Congress Center this year (in the past it has started in Centennial Park). Right past the start line there were a couple of cheerleader cheering the walkers on. Reese wanted to have her picture taken with them so we made a quick pit stop. She was so excited to see them.
After the walk was over there were several kids activities. Sam enjoyed dancing it the grass and chasing these huge balloons that were tied down.
Reese jumped in the bounce houses and became a balloon butterfly.
After the walk we went to Ikea. We were there for over an hour and I was so proud of how well the kids did. It was lunch time but I really wanted to grab a few things for the house. After we ran through there we stopped and grabbed some McDonald’s for lunch. Sam was so tired he didn’t even make it through eating his lunch before he fell asleep.
We put them down for a nap as soon as we got home and they both took great naps. While the kids napped, Lance and I laid around 35 bales of pine straw down on our hill. By bedtime we were all ready for bed. It was such a good and sweet day with my sweet little family.
Thank you to everyone who donated money to our walk.

Crazy Hair Day
Reese’s school has had spirit week this week. Monday was pajama day, Tuesday was spirit wear, and today was crazy hair day. Crazy hair day is easy for us because she wakes up with crazy hair every day but we decided to look for something more fun. We have talked about and seen pictures of Pippy Long Stocking but have not seen the movies. I asked Reese if she wanted her hair like that and she said yes.
Yesterday we practiced doing her hair.
And today was the big day. Reese was so excited all day yesterday and this morning. On our way to school she was wondering what other people’s hair was going to look like. I could tell she was starting to get nervous and she kept an eye on every kid as they got out of their car to see what their hair looked like. She got a little quiet as we pulled up but as soon as the door opened to the car and the teachers started doting over her she got a big smile on her face.
When I picked her up from school the first thing she said was, “Everybody loved my hair. Ms. Robyn kept calling me Pippy.” She looked too cute and I just giggle every time I looked at her.

Easter 2011
Sunday morning we had to wake the kids up early so that we had enough time to all get ready, see what the Easter Bunny brought and get to church on time for the early service so that we could get out to my parents house for lunch with the family. Here is how the day looked:
Waiting patiently to go downstairs and see what treats are waiting on them…
This picture is probably my favorite of the day. They both took off running as soon as their feet hit the downstairs floor. I am not sure what Sam thought he was running to but since Reese was so excited he was excited too.
After each thing they pulled out of their basket, they would run it over to me to see.
And Sam had to get in to all of the candy!! He would hold it in his hand until it melted or try to bite through the wrapper. He is a junk food lover just like the rest of us.
After a wonderful church service, we went to my parents house for lunch with my parents, Becca, and my dad’s brothers family.
My mom bought us the Resurrection Eggs so I read the stories to Reese while we waited on family to arrive.
I love this picture…I just wish that silly stick was not in front of her face.
We also had my mom take family pictures for us. We don’t all get to dress up often and at the same time so it was nice to get some picture proof.
Reese looks like she is Sam’s puppet master.
They got to play with bubbles and chalk outside.
And then they had an Easter Egg hunt with one of my cousin’s kids.
Sam did so well for his first egg hunt. He never seemed interested in hunting with Reese when we would have them in the backyard but he enjoyed it.
After everyone was gone, I tried on my wedding dress for Reese. Well, I attempted to. To say the least, it definitely does not fit anymore. She loved it though and wanted to try it all on too.
What a blessed day we had!
