I am jealous of other peoples creativity and their ability to do something with it.

No proof

Fun, fun, fun. We went to Jacksonville last Thursday to visit with Lance's uncle, cousin and grandmother. We left early Thursday morning around 4am and arrived in Jax around 10 or so. That left us with the full day to do whatever we wanted. We decided to head down to the beach club to have lunch and then play in the pool. It was so hot but so perfect. The lunch was yummy and the pool was relaxing. We visited Lance's grandmother for a little while afterwards and then headed home and had dinner. Friday Lance and his uncle got up to take care of a few things and then went to see the new Batman movie in the IMAX theater. Claire, Reese, and I had full intentions of doing something Friday but decided last minute to just enjoy relaxing. Reese was so tired from her full day on Friday that she took two really long naps on Friday and I got to sit in front of the TV and relax AND not feel like I should be doing something else. That evening we all went to dinner with Lance's grandmother and stopped for ice cream on the way home. Claire and Charles took really great care of us and we had a wonderful time with them. Saturday morning we got up bright and early to head to Savannah for a family reunion on my dad's side. We was fun to see all of my family that I see normally but it was neat to meet people who I may have never met or met a long time ago as a kid. After the reunion we headed home. The craziest thing about the whole weekend was that I did not take any pictures...none...except for a couple in the car. Can you believe that?? Claire took a couple at the pool so maybe I can get those from her but other than that I have no proof as to all that I have just told you.

Our Little Munchkin

Today was Reese's one year check up....and she is a munchkin. She weighed 21 lbs, 15 oz and is 29 inches tall. Her weight is in the 66th percentile and her height is in the 48th percentile. Her head is still in the 85th percentile at 18 1/4 inches. Slowly she has dropped percentage wise. Back at four months she was in the 97th percentile. At six months she was 90% weight and 75% for height. At nine months she was in the 70's for both height and weight. It is amazing the changes she has made in this year. She seemed like such a big baby. At her party the other day my friend Amy had her little man there who is four months old. His measurements have been very similar to Reese's at each check-up. But at the party Lance said something about how small he was and I said he is the exact same size Reese was then...and he could not believe it!! Isn't it funny how fast we forget?? Everything else with her visit went perfectly. She passed her hearing test and got one shot. She did great today after the shot...nothing can slow her down!

Happy 1st Birthday Reese!!

Happy Birthday to my sweet baby girl. Today Reese turned a year old!! I CAN NOT believe how fast this year has gone by. A year ago today my life changed forever and it has been amazing. I have loved watching every moment of Reese growing and turning in to a sweet little girl. We had a birthday party today full of family and friends. It was a lot of fun and Reese enjoyed the company. Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate Reese's birthday.

Here are a few pictures from today. My sweet little cousin, Brooke, was in charge of my camera and she got some great shots! Thanks Brooke for all of your help!!

I thought I had taken a picture of all of the books she received with my camera but I think it was with my mom's camera. We asked people to give her books for her birthday because she has so many toys. And she got a lot of books! Her bookshelf was empty this morning and now it is full!! I am so excited about the books and I know she will be eventually too!! Thank you again to everybody who celebrated with us (here and in thoughts). You are definitely someone special in Reese's life!

Re-"do"

After getting my hair cut last Saturday I just wasn't happy with it. I felt like I was a six year old kid. So my fabulous friend Amy recommended a guy who was awesome with cutting hair and that he would do exactly what I wanted. So I went to see him today...and I love, love, love what he did. He is a hair genius!!

Amazing

I love to blogsurf!! I love hopping from one blog to another to another. It is fun to see the intimate details of other peoples lives and to see their faith posted in different ways. One blog I looked at today had this special video on it. I don't usually watch the videos people have on their blogs or read really long posts of people that I don't know. But today I watched this video and it is amazing!!

1 year pictures

We had Reese's first birthday pictures made yesterday at Portrait Innovations. There were a ton (a ton) of cute pictures. We spent way too much money but got some great shots. Our house is going to be a shrine to Reese. We had her picture made in two outfits. Next time we will only do one outfit because that made the decisions so much harder. We also went in with out a plan. Next time I will take a list of who all will get pictures so I know how many pictures to buy.

To our Moms, Dads, and Sisters,
Go ahead and clear off an entire wall for the number of pictures you will be getting!

I am not going to share the pictures until after Reese's birthday...so be waiting on Monday!!

Ok...maybe I will share just one...here is one we did not buy! (We got the CD of all of the pictures because of the number of pictures we bought...I told you we bought a lot!)

And so they begin

Our babies are turning one now. Yesterday we went to a birthday party for our friend Mitchell. He turned one on Friday. It was so much fun to see all of his little friends there. Reese was the only girl but she didn't seem to mind.

Here are Mitchell and Reese...he has the cutest little birthday outfit on!!

A New Me

I have been talking a long time about cutting all of my hair off. I was waiting until after Adrienne's wedding to go big though. So my birthday present from Lance was to go have my hair done. And I did it. I went big!!

Here I am before...I couldn't find a picture of me by myself so this will have to do.

And here I am now!

It is not exactly what I wanted.

I wanted it to be shorter in the back...more stacked.

But this will do for now. Maybe I will go back and have them cut a little more off in the back. It is much cooler and lighter than before. I just got it done yesterday and have not attempted to do it myself yet. So we will see if I still like it after I do it myself!!

And we're off...

Today started off like any other day. We played, we ate, we ran some errands, I tried to get Reese to say ma-ma, and I tried to get her to walk. Well, she did it...the walking part. We were sitting on the floor and I stood Reese up, she threw her hands in the air and I backed away. I put my arms out and said, "Walk to ma-ma." And she did!! She walked five steps to me!! I was totally caught off guard and so excited. She walked to me like she has been walking for weeks. Maybe she has...just behind my back. I captured a few steps on camera. I am so proud of Reese. Later in the evening she even stood herself up and walked. How did she get to be such a big girl...all in one day??!!

I bought Reese some fridge magnets today at Wal-Mart. I put them up for her to play with. She immediately knocked them all on the floor and a few under the fridge. One of the magnets fell out of a number, she put it in her mouth, now the magnets are all put away in a drawer for when she is a little older...lesson learned.

Later Reese was playing with ALL of the toys in her toy basket. She apparently sat on something with Velcro which then attached to a toy cow...they all stuck to her diaper so it looked like Reese was "having a cow".

Just a few

I have been bad about taking pictures and blogging this week. Here are a few pictures to make up for it.

Reese wanted to play with my headband...here she is making a silly face as usual.

Her new trick...to climb on the dishwasher. She was not happy when I took her down and told her she could not do this again.

My mom bought Reese some light-up tennis shoes. I tried them on her yesterday and they are super cute. I wanted to see how she did walking in them. Hard floor...good...carpet...not good. They tripped her up on the carpet but they should be perfect for outside!

Other stuff

Earlier in the week we had a playdate with Emma from the neighborhood. We usually try to meet at the pool but the last time we went there were a bunch of big kids playing on the steps which is where Reese and Emma want to play. We don't have a baby pool in the neighborhood so that is the best we can do for them. So we decided to try out a blow up pool my mom bought for Reese. The idea of it was cute and fun...the actual set up of it might not have been. But Reese and especially Emma seemed to enjoy it. Reese wanted to crawl outside in the grass more than just sit in the pool.

Reese did not want to put on her bathing suit so since we were in the backyard I didn't care!

Baby bellies are so cute!!

Emma loved the rings...she decided she wanted to get her belly wet.

Reese has been hard headed about eating lately. She only wants to feed herself! The other night I made spaghetti with spiral noodles so that she could pick them up easier. She loved it!! She actually ended up eating spaghetti three or four more times this past weekend. I have got to find other meals for her to eat on her own with only 4 teeth!!

We also found out some of our friends are expecting a baby early next year! We are super excited for them...maybe as much as they are!! Congrats McK's!!

Whew...

We made it...all three of us...all weekend. This past weekend started on Thursday and hasn't slowed down since. My best friend from high school, Adrienne, got married last night. It was an absolutely beautiful wedding and perfect day! Since it was a holiday on Friday the rehearsal and dinner was on Thursday night. My sister came over after lunch time to get Reese used to having her here. After Reese went down for a nap, I snuck out of the house to head to the rehearsal. I was very nervous after the other night when she had such a rough night for Lissa. Becca said Reese got up from her nap and had a great rest of the day. She was able to give her a bath and put her to bed with no problems. Lissa came over and hung out some with them too. Lance met me at the restaurant for the rehearsal dinner. We had a wonderful time that evening!! And it was much easier knowing that Reese was behaving and not having a hard time. Friday morning I spent some time with Reese before running off to the bridal luncheon. Lance spent the afternoon with Reese while I had some girl time. Then that evening we all went back downtown for a BBQ at Adrienne and Erik's place. It was fun and there were several kids there so Reese got to play with them. She loves watching other kids!! Saturday morning I tried to soak up as much time with Reese as I could because I knew it was going to be a full day before I got to see her again...the longest ever!! While she was napping (again) I snuck out of the house and headed down for the festivities. I got to the hotel around 11 am. I got my hair and make-up done...which was fun...and beautiful. They did a great job on every one...especially Adrienne who looked like a million bucks! Lance arrived around 3:30. He hung out in our hotel room before getting ready to head to the church for the wedding. Reese stayed with Lissa for the afternoon and did much better than last Sunday. Then Becca showed up and spent the rest of the night with them. Reese was perfect for them all night which made our time that much easier to enjoy!! Around 4 or so we started pictures and every thing was on from there. We took pictures outside of the Fox, walked down to the church which was a block or so away, and waited, for what seemed like forever, for the wedding to begin. It was well worth the wait because the wedding was wonderful. The ceremony itself had a great message and the church looked great. After the ceremony and pictures we headed down to the Fox for the reception and loved every minute of it...food, music, dancing, etc. We spent the night at the hotel...our first overnight stay without Reese. I think it was good for her and it was especially good for us. ; ) This morning we had a quick breakfast with everyone and said good bye...we were ready to get home to our sweet baby. We spent all day soaking Reese up and covering her in kisses. She had a rough time going down for her nap because all weekend some one was sneaking off during a nap. She was afraid we were going to do it again. It was a fabulous weekend! And I am so honored to have been a part of the wedding!! I can't believe I have known Adrienne for 18 years now. I am so excited to be a part of this new chapter of her life!

Lance and Reese at the BBQ on the 4th...isn't she so patriotic??

My beautiful bouquet of flowers from the wedding...I brought them home...and one other one...and put them in vases so I could enjoy their beauty a little longer.

July already??

How did it get to be July already? This year has gone by so fast! I remember thinking last year at this time that I was about to be a mommy...I couldn't believe it was July already then as well...the month that our daughter was going to be born. And now I can't believe that our sweet girl is going to be ONE YEAR OLD in just a couple of weeks. It is unbelievable the changes that Reese has made in one year. How can that tiny little brain learn so much in such a short amount of time? How can that tiny little body learn to crawl and eventually walk in such a short amount of time? God's creations are amazing and I am reminded of that more every day I spend with Reese.

Reese looking through our FPU envelopes...trying to find the money I suppose!!

Squishing the lamb.

Showing some skin...this cute little outfit was given to us by my sweet friend Kerri. How cute is that??
