Conversations with Reese

I have had some funny conversations with Reese today.  Here are three of them:

*We were talking about hanging out at my parents house.  She asked, “Mommy, could you please not send Gigi an email and tell her I need a nap?”

*She has socks with the days of the week on them.  This morning she wanted to wear the Friday socks.  When we were driving to lunch, Reese asked me what day it was.  I said that today is Wednesday.  Her reply was, “But my socks say Friday.”

*This one is kind of gross but so funny.  She said, “Mommy, do you remember when I throwed-up?  It made my snot hot.”  Haha!  She cracks me up.

Not Fair!

*A while back I started a new routine. I set my alarm for seven so that I have time to wake up, get ready, and enjoy some quiet time before the kids wake up. I usually hit snooze and the alarm goes off five minutes later. I then turn the tv on and slowly get moving. What is unfair about that? My kids have inevitably started waking up earlier since I started this little routine. This morning Reese walked in to my room at 7:07. Sam woke up at 7:20. They used to wake up at 8:00! Not fair!

*On top of not getting to wake up quietly, I feel like I have a newborn in the house. But it is worse. Both kids are waking up multiple times a night. Last night I was up four times. The night before I was up five times. Not fair!

*I realize how dramatic I am being. I am just sleepy so give me a minute.

We have had another fun day today. After ballet we went to a fun little indoor playground to celebrate the birthday of one of Reese's friends from school. They had so much fun running around and playing together. I got a little glimpse of what they are like together at school. It was sweet. They gave each other the sweetest hugs when we were leaving. It is fun to see Reese in her element.

I totally forgot my camera today so I will leave you with a picture Reese drew this morning while I was getting ready. She said she was going to draw a cat so I thought it would look like the circle faces she usually draws. I was so shocked to see her cat when she was done. Amazing!

Champion Kids

Today we went to Champion Kids with some friends of ours.  It is a gymnastics gym that has open play during the day.  All four kids had a lot of fun running around and playing.  They have a jumpy and a huge blow up slide.  Sam LOVED going down the slide with me.  Each time we got down he would point at it to go back up.

Over the foam pit they have a rope swing.  They also had this at Reese’s old gym but she never had any interest in swinging on it.  Well today she saw Kayleigh swing on the rope and realized how much fun it was.  After Kayleigh went Reese wanted a turn.  She loved it the first time.  The second time she went I was able to record it and she didn’t seem to enjoy it that time.  She never got on it again.  Too funny!

We had a fun time out today!  It is always fun to spend time with our friends.

Much Needed Day

We had a last minute trip to the Aquarium today.  We picked Reese up a little early from school to head down.  Sam was so excited to see Reese!

I snapped a couple of pictures with the camera and then the battery died so I had to take the rest of the pictures with my phone.

2-1-11 266

I tried hard to just be in the moment and not take too many pictures though.  The Beluga Whales are just so hard to watch and not take pictures of…they are beautiful and so graceful.

The penguin exhibit was open and it was pretty nice.

2-1-11 272

Each time we walked in to an exhibit Sam would start pointing and getting so excited.

He really enjoyed the tunnel.

2-1-11 275

Reese had a blast all day.  She was SO good today.  She stayed with me, she followed all directions, and was just overall so sweet. I was so proud of her.

Sam went all day with out a nap (until the car ride home) and he was the perfect little angel too.

2-1-11 285

My camera just doesn’t do this exhibit any justice.  It is so bright and colorful.  The kids love it.

2-1-11 286

When we were in the room where you could see the whale sharks I let Sam out of the stroller.  For a while he just sat with us and snuggled up to Reese.  They have been so sweet together.

Sam loved walking up to the glass and banging on it.  He would squeal as the fish went by.

Today was such a wonderful day with both kids.  It was a day I needed and didn’t even know that I needed.  Thank you, Kristin, for setting this up for us.

Letters

Reese wrote all of her letters the other day. She did such a great job. She only needed help with a few of them and I would write them somewhere else so she could copy. K and X seemed to give her the most problems.

(Sorry the picture is sideways)

Sam looks to be trying to learn his letters here but he just LOVES to play with Reese's ixl. He will take it and run. If Reese comes close he will pick it up and hug it tight. It is so funny.

Sorry if the layout on this post is crazy. I am not sure how to fix it on my phone. :-(

“Magazines”

My parents have all of our music books in their piano bench at their house.  When we are at their house Reese always wants to go play in the “singing room”.  One day we were at home and she kept asking where our magazines were.  I kept asking questions to figure out what she was talking about.  I eventually figured out that she wanted her own music books.

One day I walked in to the living room and saw that Reese had created her own magazines.

New (Old) Toys

When we were at my parents house the last time I told Reese that a lot of my old toys were down in their basement.  She asked if she could see them so Becca and I took her down to see them.  I knew our baby doll beds were down there and I thought she would want to see those but when we got down there we found something much more exciting.

We stumbled upon all of our old Barbie dolls.  Reese thought she was in Barbie heaven.  There were so many clothes and Barbie dolls.

We brought them all home with us to enjoy them all in Reese’s new dollhouse.

Chaotic Fun

Today we went to play with our friends and celebrate an early Valentine’s day.  It was so much fun to get out of the house and visit with our friends even though it was completely nuts!

I finally had my first go at using my new KitchenAid mixer.  It was fabulous!!

I made a cake for our little get together and it was yummy.

My Family

Back in October we had my grandfather’s 80th birthday party.  All of the cousins went in together to hire a photographer to capture some memories.  The experience with the photographer was actually a really horrible experience and the pictures she sent to me turned out even worse.  I played with a few of the pictures in Picnik and was able to make them decent but nothing I would pay for.  I’m sad that the situation turned out the way it did.  Because not everyone lives close by, we can’t just try again right away.  I hope that we will be able to get everyone together again one day to have a do over.

Under The Weather

This has been one of the most horrible weeks around here…aside from the weeks we all had the flu.  This week we have all had the stomach flu.  Along with all the stomach stuff, it kept us down with achy bodies and super tiredness.

So…no pictures, no fun stories, no nothing.  A lot of fluids, crankiness, and sleepiness.

Please let this be our last family wide illness.  It is making us all CUH-RAY-ZY!!!

Sammy’s Big Day

We turned Sam around in the car today!  We waited a little longer with him until he was walking full time.  He really seemed indifferent about facing forward v. facing backwards. He isn’t feeling 100% so that could be why he doesn’t look too excited in this picture (taken on my phone).

Tonight we went to Taco Mac for dinner.  When we are out we usually get Sam some apple juice, put it in his cup and cut it in half with water.  Towards the end of dinner he was getting a little restless so I gave him the straw from the juice box to play with but he decided he wanted the half empty box too.  He didn’t know how to drink out of the straw but wanted the straw in the box.  After playing with it for a while he figured out how to sip through the straw and loved to full (not cut in half) apple juice.  He might fight me on watery apple juice from now on.
