Old Navy!

If you are shopping for some inexpensive kids clothes, look no further than Old Navy! We went to Old Navy Sunday night to buy Reese some new clothes. She is quickly outgrowing her current wardrobe and was in some desperate need for new shirts and shoes. I had my reservations about shopping at Old Navy for her because in the past the sizes just didn't work. We would buy in advance for her but by the time it came around to her wearing her new clothes they were too small. Now that I know that I can buy bigger sizes than she wears in other brands. We bought 70+ dollars worth of clothes for her for $22!!! That is right! We save $50!! ALL of their sale stuff was an additional 50% off. She is set for a little while with tops!! Woohoo!! The bummer in all of this?? I had to buy her size 2T! Can you believe that??

After that we went to Target to get some shoes. We bought two pair for $20. I am also waiting for a new pair of boots to arrive anyday now that I ordered online. I think she is set for a little while now with shoes too.

Next thing I need to get her are some new dresses. This past Sunday she wore an 18 month dress that fits everywhere but in the length. It was a little short but we made do!! She has a long torso and short little legs...thanks to her Daddy!

Hopefully I can get some pictures up of some of the new clothes we bought this weekend!

I find it...

humorous that as I log on to Facebook this morning all of the statuses have to do with the inauguration today. Most of the supporters of Obama say they can't wait for today and to get rid of Bush and waiting for a CHANGE. The republicans are being supportive of Obama and praying for our nation. What a difference!! OK so that might not be true of all but I saw it on several!

Today I have a free pass to watch TV (or at least leave it on) all day. I definitely don't want to miss the events of today. Whether you were a supporter of Obama or not you cannot minimize the historical event that are to take place. My kids will be learning about this in school one day as such a huge turning point in the USA. I plan on seeing it through so that I can discuss it with them.

I see you!

I see you 19 days left...minutes and seconds counting down. I have finished all of Reese shopping except for a few stocking stuffers. Both nephews are complete, all babies in the family are done, I actually think all of Lance's family is bought for, grandparents are done, my dad is done, now I have to shop for the rest of my family and Lance! Oh my!

Christmas...

IS IN 21 DAYS!! Holy cow! How did it get so close?? I still have tons of shopping to do!!

Our next door neighbors have lights all in their front yard with fake reindeer...the works. Tonight as we were leaving to go meet some friends from our small group for dinner Reese looked out the window and just said, "Wow!" She was so impressed with all of the lights. I think she is going to love Christmas time!!

Elmo...

Elmo is our new best friend around here. This weekend he was on our TV all day, every day. Since I was trying to rest and recuperate I just let Reese be entertained by the red monster. And she loved it. This morning around 5 I woke up and my mouth was hurting so I took some more of the sleepy medicine thinking I still had another three hours of sleep. Reese decided to wake up just after 7 and I just couldn't get going. So we came downstairs, turned on Elmo, and I fell back asleep on the couch while Elmo babysat. She just sat snuggly in my lap and let me sleep. After that quick nap I was refreshed and ready to start the day. She has been so great this weekend!

I made it...

Yesterday I had my wisdom teeth out. It was no fun at all. I feel good today but am waiting for the pain to start now...I read days 3-4 are the worst. Hopefully it can't be any worse than having a baby and recovering from that! We shall see.

The Bailout

I don't know alot about politics, our economy, or our government but I keep myself surrounded by people who know and I listen to people who are smarter than me in these areas. As you know Dave Ramsey has become a big part of our household and we follow most of his financial teachings because we respect his view and outlook. Lance sent me this link today regarding the bailout and Dave's thoughts on it. Take a look at it.

Again, as some one who doesn't know much about the economy, it makes sense to not get out of debt with debt...right? We are lucky to live in a country where we get a say...we get a vote. As little as I know, I know that it is a right and previledge to be able to vote and we should all take advantage of that oppurtunity. Be sure to let your voice be heard in November and now...no matter what your views are (Lance might disagree with that...haha...he wants to hear your opinion if it is the same as his...j/k!).

Thursday, already?

This week doesn't seem like it has gone by fast but it is already Thursday night so I suppose it has! This week has been fairly busy but fairly unproductive. I feel like I did so much last week when Lance was gone that this week I have been kind of slack in doing things around the house. Toys and books are everywhere!

Yesterday Reese and I went to the library for story time for the first time. We were walking in to the room and Reese freaked out! She must have thought I was leaving her there. When we walked in there was a lady sitting on the floor with music playing and couple of other moms and babies in the room. She started screaming and would not let me put her down. We sat down and I tried to keep reassuring her that I was not leaving. She eventually relaxed and by the end she was the lone dancer on the mat and chasing bubbles...not really caring where I was. I really enjoyed story time and can't wait to continue doing this at the library. I think it will be very beneficial for both of us.

Today Lance and I both had physicals so Lance took the day off. We each had our physical in the morning. Then we went down to my dad's office to be adjusted and had lunch with him and my grandparents. Tonight we started in our first community group. A community group is similar to Sunday school but you do it on your own time. There are six other couples in our group. Lance and I both really enjoyed getting to know the other couples and I think this will be a great oppurtunity for us. Reese stayed with the daughter of one of the other couples in the group. I dropped her off at their house and while she was playing with the girls I left. She did fine for the first hour and then cried for an hour and a half after that!! Grrr. I don't know what to do to help her relax while I am away. Hopefully she will not do this for the next 18 months...hopefully!!

Tomorrow we are going to enjoy the last few days of summer at the pool! Yeah!

Tote

For Juliette's birthday I decided I would make her a cute little tote. It was a lot of fun making. I hope she has fun with it!! I used it as a gift bag and put her birthday presents in it.

SHS Class of 98

This weekend I had my 10 year high school reunion. I can not believe ten years has gone by so fast! My honey's sister (and her boys) kept Reese entertained for the evening for us. She was great for them and we are glad to have been able to go out and enjoy the night with out worrying about Reese. We, of course, left during Reese's afternoon nap so we had a couple of hours to kill before meeting up with some friends. We went to a mexican restaurant and had a mini date night. Thirty-three dollars later we had both had one drink and nothing to eat. Oh well, the company was nice. After that we headed over to Davis's house (an old friend from high school) to get our evening started. There were seven of us from our class and their spouses that met up and we had a great time for two hours before we headed to the reunion. There were tons of people at the reunion and it was fun to catch up with them. It was pretty loud so conversations were kept short and sweet. The same conversations were had over and over..."What are you doing now?"..."Do you have any kids?"..."It was good to see you again!", etc, etc. Overall, I had a great time and it was so, so great to catch up with some of my most favorite people from high school!

Oh, Great!

Last night I was grilling chicken on the George Foreman. I have done this millions of times. This time for some reason I noticed there was a tag attached to the power cord so I read it. Please see below.

...may cause cancer, and birth defects or other reproductive harm!!! WHAT?!?! So I washed my hand immediately. How many other power cords will have this effect? Is it just the George? And why is only the State of California concerned about this? Seriously! What the heck?

Does your George Foreman have this tag?

Advise for 18 year old Renee

I saw this on another blog and thought it was a fun idea...give it a try.

Dear 18 year old Renee,

Hey...it's me...ten years from now. Yep, ten years...your ten year high school reunion is just around the corner. So, I've seen the future (at least ten years of it anyways) and I thought I would give you some advise.

First of all even though you are scared to leave home and venture off pick a college that is not so close to home. Pick one that has a fabulous football team that you will have fun cheering for. Be more adventurous and have fun doing it.

Put down that credit card!! No seriously, put it down!! I know you think it is free money and that you can pay it off later but really put it down. Don't think about using it. As a matter of fact, go get a job and study harder. You didn't listen did you? Well, good luck paying off those credit card bills...oh yeah, and your student loans. It sure would have been nice to go out and buy some new clothes with out worrying about spending your credit card bill and student loan bill money! Your future husband and I are working on getting all of that paid off now!

Yes, future husband. Even though you decided to stay close to home instead of having fun at a big school, you found a football team you could cheer for. You meet a guy who goes to that school. He treats you well...better than any of those other stupid guys you will meet. Instead of questioning it in the beginning, just go for it and make the most of it. He's the right one! And he sure does make cute babies!!

Well, one baby so far. But she is so cute and sweet. Guess what?!? Remember when you were in middle school and one of your mom's friends asked you what you wanted to be? You told her a stay-at-home mom. She was mortified and told on you. Boy was she crazy? Well, you get to do it. Your one dream that has always stayed constant comes true! You get to stay at home and raise your sweet baby! It is amazing and you are so blessed.

When you think your life is over because of silly things that happen in college just know that life gets so much better!! Stay focused on school...and study more! Take the school part of school more seriously!! Get better grades. I know...I told you that you were a stay at home mom...that doesn't mean you should slack in school. That will help with the school loan thing I mentioned earlier!!

Love your friends! You will still have some of them for a long time. Let go of the ones you know will only hurt you! Life is too short to try to keep them around!

Love yourself! Wear that bikini proudly!! Don't stay out too late! Well, every once in a while is fine. But know nothing good happens after midnight!! Most importantly, believe in yourself!

Take a deep breath, open your eyes, and embrace life to the fullest. I know...it is a little scary! But if you just do it, it will make life so much more rewarding and fulfilling.

See you in ten years!

Love,

Future Renee

Old Friends

Yesterday Reese and I had lunch with some old co-workers of mine. One of them is currently on maternity leave. She has a one month old baby who was so cute and perfect while we were at lunch. It was great to see all of them. I definitely miss them...just not in the work setting!!

Re-"do"

After getting my hair cut last Saturday I just wasn't happy with it. I felt like I was a six year old kid. So my fabulous friend Amy recommended a guy who was awesome with cutting hair and that he would do exactly what I wanted. So I went to see him today...and I love, love, love what he did. He is a hair genius!!

A New Me

I have been talking a long time about cutting all of my hair off. I was waiting until after Adrienne's wedding to go big though. So my birthday present from Lance was to go have my hair done. And I did it. I went big!!

Here I am before...I couldn't find a picture of me by myself so this will have to do.

And here I am now!

It is not exactly what I wanted.

I wanted it to be shorter in the back...more stacked.

But this will do for now. Maybe I will go back and have them cut a little more off in the back. It is much cooler and lighter than before. I just got it done yesterday and have not attempted to do it myself yet. So we will see if I still like it after I do it myself!!

Pinching Pennies

Rising gas and food prices are really hurting us! Can somebody please make it stop??

Bridal Shower

I am throwing a bridal shower for a friend in two weeks...RSVPs are due tomorrow...I only have 11 replies out of 25 invitations sent. I almost always (unless I just honestly don't know if there is a conflict) RSVP immediately. How about you? One of my pet peeves is people who don't RSVP at all. And then an even bigger one is people who don't RSVP and then show up!! Obviously they have never planned any thing before. I think it should be ok to call those people out at the party. Especially when it comes to food. When it is time to eat tell them they will have to be last in line just in case there is not enough food for everyone! Haha!! They shouldn't get a party favor either. Maybe I am just being mean...

Leap Year...An Extra 24 Hours

We always say "If only there were a few more hours in the day...". Well this year we get a full 24 extra hours. So I am going to be thankful for all that I have during my extra 24 hours. Some times I don't feel like I say thank you enough...especially to God. I think that is really all he wants to hear is "Thank you".

I am thankful for my sweet little family!!

Lance is so amazing. He is working so hard. The alarm goes off at 5:05...he is out of bed by 5:30 or so. I know it is so hard for him to get up knowing that the other person in the bed gets to stay there. He goes to the gym to get his day started right. Then he spends the next nine hours at work busting his tail so that I can stay home and raise our beautiful daughter. And then he comes home and usually does something for work during the evening. Either before or after doing work, he plays with and entertains Reese for a little while. It definitely gives me a little break even though usually I find myself on the floor playing with them both.

Reese is growing so fast and I am so thankful to be able to stay home to watch her. She is getting herself on to a schedule. It is something that I thought would never happen. The early days when I had no idea when she would eat, sleep, cry, or be happy are behind us. I can make plans to do something at a specific time and know that I will not interrupt her! Yeah!! We are so blessed to have a healthy, happy baby!

Thank you God for my sweet little family!

What do you plan to do with your extra 24 hours??

Heidi Klum

I hate her! Not really but how is it fair that she "gave birth to her son Johan in November [2006], but proving that there is actually no rest for the wicked, she returned to form in 34 days to be in the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show"? Seriously...I have been looking for at least a month for a bathing suit that I feel comfortable wearing out in public. It has been seven months since having a baby for me and I can not find anything!! Nothing!! Yet, good ole Heidi will strut down a runway a month later in lingerie. Not fair!!
