Adventures in Reese

Trying to escape down the stairs

Starfish baby

Saturday we got to watch our neighbor, Emma, while her parents went on a date. At first Reese was excited to have her there but as more and more attention was divided Reese did not like that. She wanted all of Mommy's attention to herself. Here she is reading a book to Emma. On this page it just happens to say, "God loves me...When I am happy and when I am sad." Haha...she must have been trying to tell me something.

There is some attitude in those eyes...I think they are saying, "Really?"

She has finally had enough and she is ready for Emma to go home. A few minutes before this Emma bumped her head on the coffee table and was crying. Reese decided that at that moment it was a good idea to cry even louder because I was trying to comfort Emma. What a mess Reese is!!

Messes and More

Reese's new favorite thing is to play with my planner. She pulls it off the desk when I am not looking and "writes" in it and says "ya-ya-ya-ya" like she is reading it. She likes to do this while I am making dinner...which is fine by me because it occupies her...no whining!!

Today we got to watch my friend Amy's little boy, Tucker. He is six months old so I pulled some of Reese's old toys out for him to play with. She had a lot of fun playing with her old exersaucer.

She was so sweet with Tucker. She shared her toys, showed him the ropes, and wanted to give him hugs. I was nervous she would be jealous but she was the perfect little sweetie!

Finally Friday

It is finally Friday! Reese and I had a busy day yesterday. We went to my cousin's house for a playdate with her little man. He is two months younger than Reese...as a matter of fact his birthday is today! We played outside for a little while on the slide and in the toy car.

Reese seems so tiny to us but when she was next to Caleb she towered over him. She looks like a giant.

Back it up. She liked to sit in this car. She didn't know how to move her feet out of the way so I could push her so she just sat in it and tried to honk the horn.

After the playdate we headed to the grocery store so I could buy some dessert to make for our small group. We ran home, put Reese down for a nap, and I made the Ooey-Gooey Peanut Butter Brownies (thanks to Adrienne's yummy recipe). So after she woke up it was dinner time. As soon as Lance walked in the door, we had to walk right back out to head to small group. Small group was great. It is really nice to be able to interact with other people with similar interests and goals. Reese did well with the babysitter. She is the 17 year old daughter of a couple in our small group. She keeps Reese, her two sisters (7 and 9), and three boys (12, 8, and 5...I think) from another family in our group. Needless to say her hands are full but she gets a lot of help from all of the kids helping to entertain Reese and keep her happy...along with the cats that Reese just loves. Hopefully Reese doesn't make them all crazy! I think Thursday are going to always be crazy but it will make the week that much more entertaining.
Today I feel completely overwhelmed with house work. Lance is going to take Reese out for a little while when he gets home from work so I can fully concentrate on cleaning!! Hopefully I will be in a much better mood when they get home. Then I can enjoy the weekend in a clean house.

Fun, Fun Weekend

We had a fun, fun weekend!!

Friday night was just a boring old night...nothing too exciting...that I can remember anyways. Did we do anything?

Saturday morning once we were all awake and fed the three of us headed over to our favorite park. The last two weekends Lance and I have run a mile (me pushing the stroller) around the trail and then walking after that. It was a beautiful morning...almost fall like but a little hotter. We hit up the grocery store real quick and then headed home for Reese to take a quick nap. After her nap, Reese and I went over to our friends Mitchell and Nicole's for a play date and lunch. Nicole made us a yummy lunch and then we took the kids to the pool. They had a great time at the pool playing and splashing. I know I have said this a lot but it is so great to visit with other mommies. And this one is especially special because the kids are so close in age. It is even more special that we have a lot in common so we don't just talk about what the kids are doing. We can talk about life too!! Saturday evening Adrienne and Erik came over and we had dinner and visited...all night!! It was so much fun to spend time with them. We watched the Olympics and talked and talked. It is so funny because Lance and Erik were separated at birth! I swear they think and talk so much alike. It is almost scary!! But we had fun with them and we can't wait to see them again next weekend.

Today was a normal Sunday. We went to church, had lunch with my family at the mall, and then Lissa came to watch Reese for us. We left while she was napping again so she was so good for Lissa. We hate that we have to be sneaky but we love that she behaves and makes Lissa's life easier!! We know she will get the hang of us leaving one day but right now is not the time!! We just want everyone involve to have an easy time...us included!

I, of course, forgot my camera when we went to Nicole's so I don't have any cute pictures from the pool. I have been SOOO bad about taking pictures of Reese ever since her birthday. I think I took so many pictures her first year I am burned out now! Hopefully I can snap some cute pictures this week to share!

Weekend Review

Saturday night we made hamburgers. I gave Reese her first hamburger but she wasn't too impressed until I gave her some of mine on the fork, of course. She will eat whatever I am eating and most of the time she will eat what is on her tray.

Then the wind started to blow...harder and harder. Here Reese is checking it out. The wind was blowing so hard we thought we were going to lose some trees. Luckily no trees fell down.

However, we lost our power for three hours. So we played Monopoly by candle light. And I kicked Lance's butt!!

Then Sunday after church Emma came over to play. We hadn't seen them in a few weeks so we had a great time catching up!!

Sunday night we went to FPU and Reese did great for Lissa. We left during her nap time so she only had Lissa when she woke up and didn't have to see us leave. That is so much easier on EVERYONE!! She was a happy girl when we got home.
Here she is saying, "Oh Mom, you are so silly!"

And so they begin

Our babies are turning one now. Yesterday we went to a birthday party for our friend Mitchell. He turned one on Friday. It was so much fun to see all of his little friends there. Reese was the only girl but she didn't seem to mind.

Here are Mitchell and Reese...he has the cutest little birthday outfit on!!

Other stuff

Earlier in the week we had a playdate with Emma from the neighborhood. We usually try to meet at the pool but the last time we went there were a bunch of big kids playing on the steps which is where Reese and Emma want to play. We don't have a baby pool in the neighborhood so that is the best we can do for them. So we decided to try out a blow up pool my mom bought for Reese. The idea of it was cute and fun...the actual set up of it might not have been. But Reese and especially Emma seemed to enjoy it. Reese wanted to crawl outside in the grass more than just sit in the pool.

Reese did not want to put on her bathing suit so since we were in the backyard I didn't care!

Baby bellies are so cute!!

Emma loved the rings...she decided she wanted to get her belly wet.

Reese has been hard headed about eating lately. She only wants to feed herself! The other night I made spaghetti with spiral noodles so that she could pick them up easier. She loved it!! She actually ended up eating spaghetti three or four more times this past weekend. I have got to find other meals for her to eat on her own with only 4 teeth!!

We also found out some of our friends are expecting a baby early next year! We are super excited for them...maybe as much as they are!! Congrats McK's!!

Knock, knock

Today Reese had a playdate with a couple of my cousins kids. Caleb is two months younger than Reese and Ashlyn is almost five months old. Caleb and Reese were following each other all around the house and had a good time. Reese loved my cousin Elisa...she kept reaching up to her to have her pick her up. It was too cute. After they all left and were getting in to their car, Reese was watching them from the window. She started knocking on the window and waving to them. It was so cute I had to get a video of it.

Reese and Caleb both wanted to use the walking toy!

All three kids...I don't think any of them wanted their picture taken.

This picture is from the other day. Reese is wearing her stylin' new outfit from H&M that Aunt Becky bought for her.

My little Hollywood. She has loved playing with her sunglasses the last few days. She takes them off and then wants them put right back on...over and over and over.

Playdate

Yesterday we had a playdate with Caleb from church. He is about three months older than Reese and he is walking. It was so cute to see him teeter and make sharp turns. He was doing great. When they got here the kids played for a bit...both wanting to play with the same things. Then we headed off to the pool and played. They both had fun splashing and then eating a snack! I told Caleb's mom, Kim, that the last time we had a playdate Reese wasn't crawling yet but learned how to soon after the playdate. Maybe she will learn to walk soon now!

This is Reese's favorite box to climb on and sit on. So Caleb decided he wanting to partake in the fun! Reese doesn't look too happy about sharing it.

She's back

My sweet baby is back!! We had a rough day Tuesday. Apparently Reese's tummy was super upset. She went #2 so many times that day...now poor thing has a bad diaper rash! But we made it through Tuesday and she started feeling much better yesterday. She was smiling, happy, and playing. We were able to run a few errands and get some things done. Today we went out to my parent's house and met a girlfriend and her kids there. We all went to the pool and the kids had a great time! It was great to see them...we don't get to see them nearly enough. The girls change so much between each visit. Reese was much happier today as well. Yeah!

Tuesday after Reese's nap I let her "finger paint" in her highchair with some yogurt. I added some green beans for color. She really enjoyed it.

Messy Face

Reese came dressed in this cute yellow bumble bee outfit today and Kerri just happened to have one for Juliette too so we put in on her so we could take their pictures. Luckily this is ok when you are little...once you are older, girls do not want to be caught in the same outfit. Maybe that is what Juliette is saying here..."Oh no, you caught us!"

Fun Day

I had a fun a day today! I was supposed to meet up with my girlfriend Kristin today but she called yesterday and said she wasn't feeling well and didn't want to get us sick...so she cancelled. Well this morning she called, feeling much better, and said her sister and niece were going to be coming to her house and invited us to join them. We went to lunch at Atlanta Bread Company...which was WAY too expensive but yummy. We had some great conversation catching up on each others lives. After lunch we went to the park. It was the typical inner city park built in the middle of asphalt. There were inmates cleaning up around there too...that was weird. We found out that they were not hard criminals but that still did not ease our worries any. I am not sure inmates cleaning a childrens playground is such a great idea. But Kendall and Reese loved playing on the playground so we enjoyed it. After a few minutes of playing we went for a walk on a connecting path to the Silver Comet Trail. This led to more fabulous conversation. It was great spending time with my friends...even though I fried in the sun...good thing Reese had sunscreen on.

Busy Week Number 34

It's been a busy week again! Last Tuesday we had a playdate with Caleb from church. No pictures for proof but we did. He is crawling around everywhere and pulling himself up. Reese just watched him in awe. We fed both of them lunch while we were at their house and Reese and Caleb "talked" the whole time. It was so cute. Wednesday we ran a few errands but nothing else too exciting. Then Thursday we had another playdate with my cousin and her son Caleb. We had a Caleb filled week. I do have some pictures below for proof of that date. Friday, nothing too exciting except for the gym. Reese is doing so much better there now! Saturday we had swim lessons in the morning, had a family breakfast at Chick-fil-A afterwards, went shopping at the mall for mommy some much needed clothes, and then met my family for dinner to celebrate Becca's 25th birthday. Man, she is getting old!! Sunday we went to church where Reese is doing much better as well. Then we went to watch Lance's nephew's baseball game. He did a great job!! Now we are back to the grind again for another fun week!

Playdate and Eating

On Saturday we had a playdate with our friend Mitchell and his mom Nicole. It is always great to see them. Mitchell is still learning to sit up. He probably can't do it because he doesn't have a belly to support him. He is 27 inches long (half an inch longer than Reese) and 15 lbs (three lbs lighter than Reese). Here are a couple of pictures from our playdate...

He looks like he is saying "Get this girl away from me!"

Here is Reese after finishing a whole jar of Oatmeal with Applesauce and Bananas in it. This was the first time she tried it and she obviously really liked it...

MOMS

I had my first MOMS adventure today. I found this group online because I was looking for other moms in my area to spend time with. Well, it wasn't exactly as I had hoped. The moms were nice and the kids seemed to be having fun in the play area at Chick-fil-a. But it just didn't feel right. I am really looking for other moms my age. These moms seemed to be in their mid-30s and the youngest kid there was 2. Granted two of the moms are expecting but still...they are all older. Also, one of the moms came sick and her kid was sick and hacking like a seal. Seriously, keep you kid at home if they are sick. I think I will give another outing with them a chance to see how I feel about it. It is a club so there is a membership...which is $25 a year I think. I want to be sure these are people I want to spend time with before I spend the money. I don't know what I am going to do!

On another note, I know I am a mom now and I will experience some of the nastiest things ever with kids but I hate boogers and runny noses! All of the kids at Chick-fil-a today seemed to have both! Yuck!! My kids noses are probably going to be so dry and irritated because I am going to constantly be cleaning them!

Playdate Part II

We had a playdate today with little Mitchell and his mommy. This is the same family from our last playdate. Mitchell is so tiny. He is a week older than Reese and he only weighs 9 lbs. 11 oz. However he is 23 inches long so he is just really skinny. Reese is so much bigger than him. You can really tell the difference when you pick him up after holding her. I will put a picture up of the two of them once I get them loaded. It is fun to have these playdates because Mitchell's mom and I can talk and compare notes. It will be fun to see how Mitchell and Reese grow. Hopefully we can continue to have these playdates even after Mitchell's mom goes back to work.

Playdate

Reese and I had our first playdate last Monday. While taking prenatal yoga I met a girl who was due a few days after I was. It turns out she had to have a c-section because her son was breeched so he was born a week before Reese. His name is Mitchell and he is tiny. Here is a picture from their playdate. Reese is already turning the boys heads!! Too cute! Reese had on a much cuter outfit when we arrived for our playdate but shortly after we got there she exploded in her diaper and all over Mitchell's mom. There was so much poop it came out the top of her diaper! Way to go girl! Luckily I had a spare outfit in the diaper bag. I am slowly catching on to this mom stuff...too bad I ran out of wipes while I was there.
