Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Reese had picture day at school today and I had a hard time finding something that was green, picture appropriate, and inexpensive.  I went to several places to find something and finally found this cute little dress at Carters.  She wore a white cardigan over it this morning since it was chilly.

Sam refuses to have his picture taken anymore so I only have a picture of Reese.  But he had a cute little polo on that matched the green on Reese’s dress.  I was able to grab a picture of him sitting at the table (without his shirt on).

A friend of ours gave us some cute shamrock cookies last night for the kids so they had those after lunch.

A while back I told Reese a story about when I was in Kindergarten a leprechaun came to our class room while we were gone and made a huge mess on St. Patrick’s Day.  She loved that story and talks about it a lot.  Well, today while Reese was at school a leprechaun came to her bedroom and made a huge mess.

He threw books all over the floor, dumped laundry over, pulled dress up clothes out of her toy chest, turned pictures over, flipped over her clock and rocking chair, and knocked Barbie’s over in the doll house.

When she first walked in to her room she said, “Hey! What in the world? I just cleaned up my room this morning.”

It was too cute to watch her react to this. Here is what she had to say about it.

Special Day

We all had a special day today.  After a quick breakfast at Chick-fil-A, the kids and Lance headed down to the zoo.  Lance said they all had a great time and bought us a season pass so we could go back when ever we wanted.  Lance said Reese actually enjoyed petting the animals in the petting zoo.  He said Sam wanted nothing to do with with the petting zoo.  While they were off enjoying the nice weather outside, I enjoyed some time with my mom and Becca at Spa Sydell.  We all got a one hour massage and it was so fabulous.  However, I am pretty sure time goes at warp speed during a massage.  How can sixty minutes go by so fast??  After everyone enjoyed their morning, the whole family got together for lunch to celebrate Becca’s birthday.  I am so glad Lance got to spend time with the little monkeys alone and I had some girl time!  What a special day!

Our Little Ballerina

Today was Parent Watch Day at Reese’s ballet class. Reese was SOOOOO excited that I was going to be able to come in to her class and watch her today.

Before the class the teacher did a little talking before they did any dancing.  This picture just cracks me up!! Open-mouthed smile

3-11-11 012

Finally it was time for them to show the parents their dance.  They will be doing this dance for their recital in June.  I really think they showed this to the parents so the parents could help out at home.

3-11-11 013

There are eight girls and one boy in her class.  The little boy actually did the best out of all of the kids.  He remembered everything and knew what everyone else was supposed to be doing too.  The teacher on the left is the head teacher and is holding the place of a little girl who was not there.  The one on the right is the assistant.  She will actually be in the dance dressed as Sleeping Beauty (and to remind the kids of the choreography).

They are dancing to “Once Upon A Dream” from Sleeping Beauty.  Here they make a castle with their partner.

They were so cute.  I am glad I finally got to see her in class.  There is no parent viewing area so I have never seen her doing any of this.  She really LOVES ballet and I feel a little bad about having not started her earlier.

Baby Friends

Yesterday I got to keep my Godson, Owen, while his mommy went to a meeting nearby.  He came over while Reese was at school so Sam and I had some alone time with him.

Sam tested out the bouncy for him to make sure it was safe.

And then Sam got a little too close so Owen tried to knock him out.

Sam was definitely interested in Owen and not quiet sure what to think. When I was feeding Owen his bottle, Sam came over and started hitting me on the head with a cushion from our bench.  He actually did really well with me dividing my attention.  Owen wasn’t awake for long so Sam didn’t have to share for too long.

Adrienne stayed for a little while after she got back and I picked Reese up from school.  She was so excited to get to see both Adrienne and Owen.

3-11-11 005

I love this picture of them both.  How sweet does Reese look holding him?  I think she is saying she needs another baby in the house! Ha!  She would “pet” him and kiss his head.  She was so sweet!

We all had fun visiting with the little man and can’t wait to see him again soon.

Coloring and Hitting and Hugging

Sam has really taken to coloring lately.  He, obviously, loves to do anything Reese does and since she is our little artist she is coloring all the time.  She, also, is not good at putting the crayons away so Sam always has one in his hand.

3-8-11 001

This would all be fine if Sam would just sit at the table with the crayons and color.  But he doesn’t.  He walks around the house coloring on anything and everything.  I feel like the only thing I am saying to him all day is, “No, Sam.  We only color on paper. Don’t color on <insert anything that is not paper here>.”

3-8-11 002

I am, also, constantly telling him not to hit!  Seriously!  He sits in “time-out” several times a day for hitting.  I say “time-out” because it is a little edited since he is not going to actually sit in time out.  Tonight after he hit me he just sat down in front of me knowing he was about to be in time-out. Time-out doesn’t seem to be working but I am going to stick with it and see if we can stop this hitting. What is funny though is that he still gives the sweetest hugs after sitting in time-out.

A new thing he is doing is giving Reese hugs…if he is in a good mood.  Before she would hug him and he would push her away.  Now he wraps his sweet little arms around her waist.  He really is the sweetest little thing.

Family Night

Tonight we had our first family night.  Instead of the normal pizza and a movie night, I added more fun to it.  We got “The Cat and the Hat” movie with Mike Myers from Netflix.  This week at school Reese has been talking/learning about Dr. Seuss so I thought this would be the perfect way to wrap the week up.

I pulled out all of our Dr. Seuss books, toys, and games. When the kids got up from naps we read several of the books.

3-4-11 005

Reese wanted to wear her red and white striped pajama pants and I made her a red bowtie.

3-4-11 006

We ate our pizza and watched the movie.  Reese really loved the movie.  It is so cute and funny.  Towards the end she got a little antsy because she was ready to play the games.  The first thing we did was our “Green Eggs and Ham” puzzle.

3-4-11 007

Next we played a game called, “I Can Do That!”.  You draw three cards.  The first card says an action such as dance, penguin walk, etc.  The second card tells you where to go such as to the bathroom, to the window, etc.  With the cards comes a foam fish in a bowl. The third card tells you what to do with the fish such as hold the fish between your elbows, on your head, etc.

Reese’s cards said tip-toe while walking to the bathroom with the fish between your elbows.

3-4-11 020

Lance had to hop to the sink with the fish on his head.

3-4-11 021

After this game we turned Pandora on and played hot potato with The Cat in the Hat doll.  We then finished family night dancing to the music.  The last song that came on was “We Are Family” sung by the Chipmunks.  It was the perfect ending to a fun night!!

Picnic in the Park

After school today I took the kids to the park for a picnic.  It ended up being really windy and a little chilly but we all had fun!

photo

The kids really love these swings.

photo2

I think they are like a swinging recliner.

photo3

We also had a fun afternoon at home. I had to grab a couple of videos of some funny things.

This one is a little hard to see. Reese loves to skip and always puts her hands on her hips. Watch Sam’s left hand when I ask him to skip. Yes, he is carrying around Reese’s lunch box like a purse. What can I say? He hangs around two girls all day.

Sam loves to copy Reese and it cracks us up when he tries to roll.

Sam loves to copy Reese.

A Comparison

Remember this picture of Reese?  She was just a couple of months younger than Sam is now. She was in a stage where she did this every night while I was making dinner.

8-13-08 005

It seems like every night when I am trying to make dinner Sam acts this way while hanging on my leg.  Like I can’t spend just a few minutes doing something other than holding him or entertaining them.

3-3-11 001

The difference?  He has no tears.  And when I was trying to take his picture he would stop and stare at me.  Ha!  Sam is not as dramatic as Reese but he has his moments.

When I was taking his picture tonight I totally remembered the picture of Reese and had to go back and find it.  Too funny!

It’s Wednesday!

I feel like these last few weeks have been really long!

We went to a new playground today.  The kids enjoyed it!

I am so glad it is beautiful outside right now.

My mood needs it!  I don’t know why I feel like a grump right now.

I found these pictures on my computer from last month…they are so cute!  Hopefully they will get me out of my funk!

Reese and Sam loved watching the game (or Brody more specifically).  At one point Reese gave me the biggest smile and said, “Brody waved to me.  Two times!”…it was like he was Chipper or something!

Doing Well

Sam has been amazing today.  He has acted like nothing happened, eaten anything I have put in front of him, and just been a happy boy all day.  We were even able to get out and go for a walk after lunch.
